Let us flee from the boasting of the Pharisee and learn through our own sighs of sorrow the humility of the Publican. Let us cry out to the Savior, "Have mercy on us, for through You alone are we reconciled."

You, O Lord, shall keep us and preserve us.
Verse: Save me, O Lord, for the godly man has failed.

The reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to Timothy 3:10-15.

TIMOTHY, my son, you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions, my sufferings, what befell me at Antioch, at lconion, and at Lystra, what persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

The Reading is from Luke 18:10-14

The Lord said this parable, "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:

LENTEN SEAFOOD BUFFET: Each Friday evening through March 29th, the HCC will continue serving their delicious Lenten Seafood Buffet Supper from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Please invite your friends and neighbors to join you for supper, no reservations are required. WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS TO WORK THE DOOR FOR EACH FRIDAY SEAFOOD BUFFET. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP, CONTACT ANNETTE AT THE CHURCH OFFICE.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY: Bible Study will be held on Thursday this week (NOT Tuesday) Tuesday, February 20^th at 7:00 pm on the ZOOM platform. ZOOM LINK is: https://zoom.us/j/7345256789, Meeting ID: 734 525 6789.We will continue our study of the Book of Matthew. All adults are welcome to join.

FAMILY WORSHIP: There will be no Sunday School classes TODAY, Sunday, February 25^th. Please plan to worship together as a family, and then stay to have lunch and enjoy the fun at GreekFest!

ORATORICAL FESTIVAL: The St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival for our parish will be held on Sunday, April 7^TH. The festival is a national program where Orthodox youth, grades 7 – 12, present speeches discussing the Greek Orthodox faith and the Church. Youth can also earn cash awards at the parish level and scholarship awards if they make it to the Nationals. MDSC CAMP REGISTRATION/APPLICATIONS OPEN: Camper registrations are open for the Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp in Rose City. Our parish will sponsor $100 for each St. Cons child who is registered for the Metropolis Detroit Summer Camp program to assist with registration fees. Please talk to Fr. Teodor or the church office to get your scholarship if your child has registered for camp. Offering faith, friendship, and fun for youth – from grades 3 through 12, the MDSC runs for 6 weeks each summer, beginning in late June. For more information about summer camp, www.gomdsc.org

ST CONS’ GREEK FEST IS HERE! Saturday, February 24^th from Noon – 9:00 pm and Sunday, February 25^th from Noon – 6:00 pm! Every parishioner should plan to attend our GreekFest . Our enormous menu is updated and delicious, we have more dance groups and a lively band that will keep the dancing going into the night on Saturday, and so many great surprises. We guarantee you, your family and friends will have big fun and be talking about it for quite some time! Don’t miss it!

Please check in, upon arrival by reporting to the Coat Check Room (at the entrance of the Hellenic Cultural Center) 30 minutes before your first shift.

If you requested a T-shirt, you can pick it up when checking in at the Coat Check Room.
If you signed up to purchase a V-neck T-shirt, you may pay for those ($15 each) at the Marketplace before your shift.

Admission to the Festival is free for volunteers. When you come in, please let the door attendant know you are a volunteer.

WE ARE SHORT ON PARKING SPACES. PLEASE CARPOOL WITH OTHER WORKERS IF

YOU CAN AND PARK ONLY IN THE VOLUNTEER PARKING LOT WHICH IS LOCATED

BEHIND THE HELLENIC CULTURAL CENTER.

While you are working, the following apply:
ALWAYS wear gloves when handling food. Put on new gloves when returning to task.
Wash your hands whenever leaving the bathroom (and any chance you get). Hand sanitizer will be available.
If you need a break during your shift, please notify your team leader. Never leave your position unattended without notifying someone.
If you do not feel well before your shift, please stay home and contact your team leader, or Mark Chuey at 248.719.5585.

News and Notices

ANNUAL HOME BLESSINGS: Father Teodor will continue to do home blessings until Lent begins. This is a beautiful and very important tradition of our church; every Orthodox Christian should have their home blessed annually. Please call the office to schedule your home blessing for the new year.

STEWARDSHIP CARDS: Have you completed your 2024 Stewardship Commitment card yet? You are not considered members in good standing for Saints Constantine and Helen for the year 2024 until you turn in a completed pledge card. Pledge cards are available at the Pangari and at the church office.

MEMORIAL SERVICES: Please call the church office to schedule all memorials and coffee hour sponsorships at least two weeks in advance. On the day of the service, please bring a list of family names you would like Father to remember in prayer. The requested Coffee Hour Sponsorship donation is $200. The HCC will set up a table with cloth and coffee, etc. for Sponsor Families. Koliva will be distributed to parishioners at the coffee hour; if you wish to bring in paximadia, koulourakia, or other dry cookie it may also be distributed.

If there is a moral quality almost completely disregarded and even denied today, it is indeed humility.
