JUNIOR SUNDAY SCHOOL meets next (Palm) Sunday after Divine Liturgy.
YOUR BOOKSTORE In the fellowship hall downstairs, you'll find Paschal egg dye, Paschal greeting cards and a variety of great "reads" for the season. Be sure to see our NEW CHILDREN’S BOOKS. Please take time to check out the offerings. Also, to pay for items in the bookstore, use a bookstore envelope and leave your payment in the bookstore or place your sealed envelope in the tray on the candle stand. To pay, you can write a check to St. George—please note "bookstore" in the memo area. Or, if you need change for cash, please pop into the office and someone there can make change for you. If there is anything you would like to special order, please let Presbytera know and she'll do that for you. Thanks!

RECENT NEWS James & Eugenia will be moving back to Baltimore later this spring where Eugenia's parents will join them. We will surely miss James & Eugenia and hope to enjoy their presence as much as we can during their remaining time with us.
PERSONAL NOTE FROM EUGENIA & JAMES As we prepare to leave Maine to return to Baltimore, we're glad there are so many Orthodox churches within a few minute's drive of where we'll be living. However, we're sad to be leaving the little gem that is the congregation of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bangor. We live about an hour outside of Bangor, so we could not always be here as often as we'd have liked. But, we knew the church would here here when we could make it. We knew the congregation members would welcome us, we knew we'd receive the often much needed reprieve from worldly cares.
We think our two years in rural northern Maine would have been very difficult if St. George not been here. For Orthodox Christians, church is “home.” It is the familiar, it is the first thing we Orthodox seek out when we move into a new area because it grounds us and it unites us. We hope and pray that the St. George community continues to thrive and serve the Pan-Orthodox faithful of rural Maine.
ST. GEORGE BOOK READING CLUB Next meeting is yet to be determined.
SUGGESTED DONATION AMOUNTS FOR BEESWAX CANDLES A few months back our church made the switch from white paraffin candles to pure beeswax candles. At this point, it seems necessary to post this reminder—there is a suggested amount requested per candle: $1 for a small candle and $5 for a large candle. If we follow the suggested amounts when donating for candles, we'll be able to continue sourcing the beeswax candles for our church. They do cost more than the paraffin—they are hand-made from pure beeswax from an Orthodox source. They are beautiful to look at, of a natural substance and delicately honey scented. We would love to continue offering them here. So, please do keep these suggested amounts in mind when choosing your candles. Thank you very much.
WHAT IS A "MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING?" - A parishioner in good standing practices all the religious and moral duties of an Orthodox Christian. At a minimum, a parishioner in good standing must be eighteen years of age or over; be current in his or her stewardship (at least have made a pledge) and other financial obligations to the Parish, and cooperate in every way towards the welfare and well-being of the Parish.
