Special Visitors: this Sunday July 8th, we will be hosting Father Andrew Basil Fetchina of St. John The Baptist Russian Orthodox Church, Rahway NJ and Father Luke Mihaly of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Danbury CT, who will be travelling with a group of 40 to Tennessee to do volunteer work. This is a community gathering as we host our brothers and sisters while they travel. If you are able to prepare a food item and/or help with prep, serving and clean up, please contact Tina Poulos at 540-206-3923 or email Tina Poulos
Moussaka Preparations
On Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20 beginning at 9 a.m. we will begin peeling and frying of the eggplant needed for the moussaka. Any time that you can volunteer these two days would be greatly appreciated. A lot of help is needed and giving someone a break throughout the day is very helpful. Please bring your peeler with you when you come. Some will be available in the kitchen those days. If you have any questions, please contact Frances Simopoulos at 434.851.6830 or ptsims@ntelos.net.

Welcome to All Visitors!
Please join us for fellowship in the Church Hall immediately following the Divine Liturgy. For those visiting an Orthodox Church for the first time, please be aware that Holy Communion is a sign of unity of faith, which is only offered to Baptized and Chrismated Orthodox Christians. All present are welcomed to come forward and receive the antidoron (or blessed bread) which is distributed at the end of the service. For those interested in learning more about the Orthodox Christian faith, please feel free to speak with Fr. Nick after the service.

Prokeimenon. Plagal First Mode. Psalm 11.7,1.
You, O Lord, shall keep us and preserve us.
Verse: Save me, O Lord, for the godly man has failed.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 12:6-14.
Brethren, having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who contributes, in liberality; he who gives aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
6th Sunday of Matthew
The Reading is from Matthew 9:1-8
At that time, getting into a boat Jesus crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say 'Rise and walk?' But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" he then said to the paralytic -- "Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
Blessed are You, O Christ our God who, by sending down the Holy Spirit upon them, made the fishermen wise and through them, illumined the world, and to You the universe is ever drawn. O Loving God, Glory to You.
