Today, the most pure temple of the Savior, the precious bridal chamber and Virgin, the sacred treasure of God, enters the house of the Lord, bringing the grace of the Divine Spirit. The Angels of God praise her. She is the heavenly tabernacle.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age. Amen."

O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance.

The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 2:4-10.

Brethren, God who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God: not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live."

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

Nativity Fast Begins

The Nativity Fast is one of four main fast periods throughout the ecclesiastical year. Beginning on November 15 and concluding on December 24, the Nativity Fast gives individuals the opportunity to prepare for the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior in the Flesh on December 25. By abstaining from certain food and drink, particularly from meat, fish, dairy products, olive oil, and wine, as well as focusing more deeply on prayer and almsgiving, we can find that the primary aim of fasting is to make us conscious of our dependence upon God.

CASH RAFFLE WINNERS

The 2020 Fall Cash raffle drawing took place on Tuesday evening, November 10, 2020.

The three grand prize winners were Evelyn Inempolodis, Jim Boloven and Louis Kircos.

Their numbers were the last three to be drawn. They were all reached via a conference call prior to drawing the last three numbers and all agreed to split the total $6,000.00 of grand prizes, each receiving $2,000.00.

The Fall Cash Raffle committee wishes to thank all the  tickets purchasers as well as the sellers for their continued support of the Cathedral as well as everyone who watched the raffle event live on Annunciation Cathedral's Facebook page.

Your Philoptochos has teamed up with FOCUS Detroit (Fellowship of Orthodox Christians United to Serve) in order to help local families enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner.

SUNDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATION

On behalf of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedrals Sunday School we would like to invite your family to register your child (ren) for the 2020/2021 Ecclestical  school year! We do realize that this school year may look different due to Covid 19 but rest assured we will be working together to ensure a safe learning experience for your family. We will begin this school year the way most school districts are, by providing virtual learning. There may be an option to transition to the classroom beginning 2021. At the moment this is just a possibility based on everyone's safety. One thing different this year is that we have a link provided below to submit your child (ren) Sunday School Registration form. We are currently looking to meet on Saturday afternoon or evenings for 30-45 minutes, in the very bottom box that requires your child's patron Saints name and date entered, could you please also include rather afternoon or evening would work best for your family. Please look to your email for further communication and feel free to reach out with any comments or questions. We look forward to another wonderful year!

Online Version of 'Journey of Marriage' Launched

The Direct Archdiocesan District (DAD) is pleased to announce the launch of an online version of its popular “Journey of Marriage” pre-marital workshop. For several years the DAD has been offering in-person, all-day workshops at host parishes. Trained facilitators have visited the host parishes and presented the six-session program authored by Dr. Philip Mamalakis and Father Charles Joanides. These workshops received praise from the attendees for the practical and directly applicable lessons that every couple should consider before their wedding.
