ADULT CLASS SEMINAR: As part of our introduction to Greek civilization, this Fall we are continuing our study in Greek tragedy with the reading of Sophocles' classic masterpiece, Oedipus the King. Classes began on October 18th, and they are taking place each Monday evening from 7pm to 8:30pm. Classes will continue through and including December 13th. If you are interested in participating in this class or if you need more information, please call John Lyssikatos at 401-728-4452.
UPCOMING LECTURE: On Tuesday, November 30th, the adult Greek class is sponsoring a lecture with Dr. Stephen Carr on the subject:
“Nature or Nurture; What Makes Us Who We Are?
A Selective History of Genetics from Pythagoras to Epigenetics”
The lecture will be offered in the Community Center of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday, November 30th at 7pm. It will also be available to view simultaneously via Zoom at the following link: https://optiv.zoom.us/j/92342617855?pwd=aVB1WUVTckliemVDSzErRGh6TFp0Zz09.
The presentation will be a selective history of genetics and how the concept of inherited features has evolved over the ages, beginning with Pythagoras and ending with the contemporary idea of epigenetics. It isn’t Nature OR Nurture that makes us who we are . . . it’s BOTH! If interested in joining the class or for more information, please call John Lyssikatos at 401-728-4452 or email yiannislyssikatos@gmail.com
