ARCHDIOCESE - UKRAINE RELIEF FUND: We will be joining the efforts of the Archdiocese to offer what we can through the IOCC to all brothers and sisters affected by the war in the region of Ukrainia, regardless of nationality or religion. To make a donation, please go to https://www.goarch.org/donate/ukraine. In response to the tragic humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and the immediate aid needed there, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America announced a major fundraising effort that will help those most affected by the Russian invasion. The first action taken by Archbishop Elpidophoros was to donate $100,000 to the Ecumenical Patriarchate to support the efforts of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Archbishop Elpidophoros also announced the creation of the Ukrainian Relief Effort which was established in collaboration with International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).Together, the Archdiocese and IOCC aim to raise $1 Million for both immediate and long-term support of the Ukrainian people.
LENTEN VESPERS: We will be celebrating the final Lenten Vespers TONIGHT Sunday, April 10th at 5pm at St. Mary/Mena's Parish, 2433 Scituate Avenue, Hope (Cranston), Rhode Island / 401-432-7200. The preacher will be Fr. Aaron Walker. Priests and parishioners from the member churches of the Association of Rhode Island Orthodox Clergy will be participating. ADULT CLASS SEMINAR: Following our study, “Aspects of Greek Civilization”, we are continuing with the reading of Aeschylus’ classic masterpiece, “The Persians” — This tragedy is based on the historic events of the Persian defeat in the battles of Marathon and Salamis. Although it is a celebration of the Greek victory, Aeschylus describes the universal experience of suffering caused by the wars from the perspective of one of the losers and shows sympathy and compassion towards those who lost their beloved ones. The final class in this series will take place TOMORROW night, April 11th via Zoom from 7pm to 8:30pm. PALM SUNDAY LUNCHEON: Our traditional Palm Sunday Luncheon will take place in the Community Center immediately following church on Palm Sunday, April 17, 2022. Enjoy some fellowship while you enjoy a delicious meal on Palm Sunday. See the attached flyer for reservation information. Tickets are available for purchase after church in the Community Center. GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY BOSTON PARADE: The annual Greek Independence Day Boston Parade will take place on Sunday, May 1st, beginning at 1pm. The parade route will proceed down Boylston Street from Mass Ave. to Charles Street. There will be a celebration "On the Park" at the Boston Common immediately following the parade at the Parkman Bandstand. The parade is presented by the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of New England in cooperation with the Metropolis of Boston, the Consulate General of Greece, and the Mayor's Office of Special Events and Tourism. GOYA GODPARENT LUNCHEON: Assumption GOYA will be sponsoring a Godparent Luncheon on Sunday, May 22, 2022. This will give us an opportunity to participate in liturgy together and share a meal. This luncheon is not only an opportunity for our youth to bring their Godparent, but for all to enjoy Liturgy with their Godparent or Godchild. Ticket sales will start on Sunday, May 1st and will be sold up until Sunday, May 15th. Please save the date!
