MANY THANKS -- APOKRIATIKO GLENDI -- MARDI GRAS: Many thanks to our Parish Council President George Karalis, Co-Chair Jeannie Soukatos, Co-Chair Anastasia Vellopoulou, Co-Chair Lily Carlson, and Parish Council Asstistant Treasurer Brian Gerace for everything they did to organize our beautiful Apokriatiko Glendi last evening Saturday, March 16th. Also, thank you to Parish Council Members Jeannie Soukatos, Anastasia Vellopoulou, Eleni Katsios and Gloria Katsios for their help in table set-up as well as to Angie Iatrou. Much appreciation to our kitchen crew, Brian Gerace, Sophia Augoustakis, Mike Karavolis, Ken Carlson, and Matthew Joanides for the preparation of the delicious meal with the kitchen assistance of Andrea Vastis. Everyone worked together with such great teamwork!!! We give thanks to Fr. Philip Zymaris for his support, his many blessings, and most importantly his spiritual guidance. We also thank all parish council members for their help and support in the planning of this event. We are also very appreciative to our expert artistic team headed by Vasiliki Papavasiliou with the assistance of Eugenia Dion, Anastasia Demetroules, and Argiro Koronios for the beautiful, festive, and elegantly-decorated Community Center. We also thank our welcoming and delightful bartenders Tom Andrikopoulos and Niko Lazouras. We thank our Goyan servers Katerina Lazouras, Nikos Panagos. Jordan Joanides, Lucas Mastin, Christo Stefanopoulos, Katerina Chrysanthopoulou, and Antonia Chrysanthopoulou. Appreciation is expressed to our Office Administrator Beth Lazouras for her attention to the many event details handled by her in our Church Office. Thank you to Demetrios Delivos and Andy Alix for all of their help. We are grateful to Steven Taktikos and Brian Froment for their help with the room preperation and set-up. We are very grateful to everyone who donated food and other items to the event and to the donors of our spectacular raffle prizes. We are especially grateful to Vasilis Nicolos for his extremely generous donation. We are also grateful to Costas Perdikakis for his very generous donation. We are truly thankful to all who supported this event. We especially appreciate all who attended and enjoyed a magical evening filled with faith, fellowship, and fun as well as dancing and listening to live music featuring Georgios Karatzas and the Athenian Entertainment orchestra. Our Mardi Gras dance was a completely sold-out event left with standing room only. It was a great success for our church community!!! It was an amazing night to remember!!!
GREEK FASHION SHOW: Discover the newest trends of the Greek fashion scene at Maliotis Hellenic Cultural Center on Saturday March 23rd at 6:30pm. Hellenic Fashion Designer Association partnered with Khiton events, owned by one of our parishioners, and is featuring a runway and trunk show of airy street-style statement pieces that can enhance any capsule collection with the distinctive Greek design. Meet Orsalia Parthenis and Konstantinos Tsigaros, enjoy divine food and refreshments and a night of a splashy catwalk and shopping. What's not to love? See attached flyer.
GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY DOXOLOGY and GREEK SCHOOL PROGRAM: On Sunday March 24th, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, we will sing the doxology honoring the heroes, our fallen mothers and fathers, of the Greek Revolution for their faith and heroism in fighting for our homeland during the Greek Revolution. Also, the Greek School students will celebrate Greek Independence Day with a short program in the Community Center after the Divine Liturgy. A reception will be hosted by the PTO in the Community Center.
GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS: This year’s Greek Independence Day celebrations will take place on Monday March 25th at 12 Noon at Pawtucket City Hall and on Thursday March 28th at 4pm at the Rhode Island State House in Providence followed by a reception hosted by St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church. The reception will take place in the community center at the Church of the Annunciation.
ADULT CLASS SEMINAR: Beginning on Monday March 4th and continuing thru Monday April 1st, a 5-week presentation will be offered on the following subject: "Highlights on the Journey of the Greek Mind. How the Greek Mind interpreted the World, the phenomenon of Man and his relation to the powers beyond. Mythos and Logos." The class will be presented on Zoom every Monday from 7pm to 8:30pm. PHILOPTOCHOS EASTER BREAD: Philoptochos will be baking their delicious Easter Bread again this year. Deadline Date to place your order is April 19th. The price will be $15 per loaf. Baking dates will be on April 24th and 25th. Pick-up dates will be on Saturday, April 27th from 10am to 1pm and after church on Palm Sunday, April 28th. PALM SUNDAY LUNCHEON: Our traditional Palm Sunday Luncheon will take place in the Community Center immediately following church on Palm Sunday April 28th.
