Reservation for Services: our Church is now open for public worship, and the State of Vermont has raised the limit for Religious Organization gatherings! Please be aware that our space will be limited - at 35 per service - so if desired, you may make a reservation with our Priest to be sure there will be space for you and your family to participate. Contact Father at the Parish Office, or by email if you want to make a reservation. Unfortunately, once we reach our legal capacity, the Parish Council will not allow anyone further in the Church. At the conclusion of all services, the faithful will need to exit parish facilities and property, and return to their homes - for the forseeable future, Coffee Hours and educational/social programs will not be offered.
Memorial Service: this morning's Parastas (Memorial Service) is offered for Maria Angelache's mother, Ana, who passed away in Romania last weekend. May her memory be eternal!
Church Cleaning: the parish no longer has the service of a paid custodian, which is an especially critical need with the increased cleaning and sanitation protocols required to re-open the church. One of the greatest blessings we can receive is to serve God by cleaning and preparing His Holy Temple, as anyone from our Orthodox lands will tell you! Please offer your services to our Parish Council to assist them in this critical work, by emailing parish-council@gocvt.org. There will be a general cleaning and preparation of our facilities on most Saturdays at 9:30 AM, please join your PC that morning. Many hands make light work!
MBC Virtual Golf Tournament: This year has proven to be a challenge for all of us. It was supposed to be an unprecedented 20th year celebration of our annual golf outing for our beloved Metropolis camp in Contoocook, NH.
The Metropolis of Boston annual summer and winter camp has and continues to play a profound role in the lives of hundreds of our Orthodox young people annually. This year’s summer camp was conducted in a virtual environment where over 150 campers participated in a spirited and enthusiastic effort online.
It is with this success in mind that we are pleased to invite you to participate in our first ever virtual golf classic as a player and/or as a sponsor. On Tuesday, October 27, 2020 we invite you to join us for a one-hour virtual Golf reception hour online at www.boston.goarch.org as we have a fun-filled program planned, during which video highlights of our past tournaments will bring back great memories and smiles to all of us! All the proceeds will benefit the “Support-A-Camper Scholarship Program” of our MBC camping ministry, as well as our St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center in Contoocook, New Hampshire.
We have been in constant communication with our friends at the Indian Ridge Country Club with hopes of having some event to commemorate this milestone. Using our best judgement with local and state guidelines, we have decided it would be in our collective interest to modify this year’s event. We are disappointed but we believe it is the right decision given the circumstances.
The golf tournament remains the sole fundraiser for camp and plays a vital role in its financial stability. Your generous support affords us the ability to offer scholarships to roughly one third of all campers. With this year’s economic hardship, your support is more critical than ever.
You may also donate directly online at www.mbcgolf.org. Looking forward to your support and to share in our virtual Golf Tournament Reception Hour on Tuesday, October 27 at 7 pm online at www.boston.goarch.org we remain,
With gratitude,
M E T H O D I O S, Metropolitan of Boston
