Worship

Worship in "Green Phase"

Welcome back! We are happy to have our doors open to all of our beloved parishioners and we invite you to join us, safely, in-person to worship! Details below.

Coming to Church is as easy as 1-2-3:

1) Wear a mask

2) Sanitize your hands

3) Check-in & Sit in between the blue w/ your family

Our attendance last week was at 128 with no overflow seating in the hall.  In the situation that we can't maintain the crowd with social distance in the main church, the hall will continue to be available for overflow, following the same safety precautions downstairs, to worship via the live stream, and have an opportunity to receive Holy Communion.  Please join us in person! We will be continuing to live-stream our regularly scheduled services via our public facebook page at www.facebook.com/HTAmbridge at the times listed below.

Our high touch surfaces--seating pews, pangari, check-in table, bathrooms, and entrance door handles are sanitized between each service.

Upcoming Services:

Every Sunday - 9am Orthros, 10am Divine Liturgy

UPCOMING MEMORIALS (Next 2 Weeks):

  • This Sunday - 1yr Memorial for Chris Theodore, 60yr Trisagion for George Diamantis

SUNDAY SCHOOL STARTS THIS WEEK: Our first week of classes will begin on Sunday, October 4th.  The difficult decisions to make all classes virtual for the time being was a consensus of the Sunday School teachers.  Teachers will employ Seesaw and/or Zoom to conduct their class work, which should be done outside of the Liturgy.  We realize this decision isn't ideal for every family, but its the best we can do at the current time.

PHILOPTOCHOS NUTROLLS: The ladies will be baking the last weekend of October with pickup set for Philoptochos Sunday, November 1st. An Order Form is included with this monthly Voice. More will also be available from Pauline Skeriotis during Coffee Hour after church for the next few Sundays along with another reminder in the next few Sunday Bulletins. All orders must be received by Sunday, October 25th AT THE LATEST.

THE VOICE: The October Voice has been published.  It should arrive at your home soon, but you can also start reading on our website.

DRIVE-IN AT THE CHURCH: Join us October 16th for a Drive-In night at the Church. Our parish needs time to catch-up with our friends in a safe and comfortable setting. This is the perfect opportunity! Come for one showing or stay for both.

GOYA has kicked off another year. We hope that everyone has been receiving our text messages, if you have not, please contact Alexa Bovalino, Kathleen Marvin, or Fr. Anastasios. We will be having an outdoor & social-distanced event at the Marvin Home on October 18th at 4pm.

ORTHODOXY ON TAP TAILGATE: Mark you calendar for October 4th 25th, as we invite all of our young adults (18-35), to hang out after Church and enjoy a covid-responsible tailgate as the Steelers play in Tennessee at 1pm.  More details to come this week.

THANKSGIVING BASKET COLLECTION: For 36 years our parish has come together to help put thanksgiving dinner on the table for many families. Last year we provided for 28 families. This year in addition to Sophia Chickos and Harriet Sickles, Nicholas Marvin will also be leading the collection. Please make checks payable to Holy Trinity. The baskets will be packed on November 21st and delivered on November 22nd.

2021/2022 Parish Council Nominations: Nomination Application forms have been sent through the Voice and more will be made available at the Church for those interested in running for parish council.

CHECK-IN VOLUNTEERSIn the current policies of the metropolis we are required to have a check-in person or team for every service.  We are looking for additional volunteers who are willing to come a little early to check people in and, if able, to help sanitize after the services.  Please contact Fr. Anastasios if you are interested in helping a necessary function during these times.

ONLINE GIVING & STEWARDSHIP:is now OPEN! Online giving can be found by clicking here!  Please consider your continued support of our church through becoming one of our online giving families.  You can make general contributions and stewardship contributions.

REGULAR GIVING: The church is still accepting donations in normal ways through the mail and drop off.  Thank you to all of those who have continued to contribute in these challenging times.

Live-Stream: If you don't have a Facebook account, don't worry! You can still access our services right on our website (HTGOC.ORG) or a larger video directly on facebook, learn more by watching the following video: https://youtu.be/QJPpkshi2d4

Gospel and Epistle Readings

Epistle Reading

Prokeimenon. Plagal 4th Mode. Psalm 75.11,1.
Make your vows to the Lord our God and perform them.
Verse: God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel.

The reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 6:16-18; 7:1.

Brethren, you are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will live in them and move among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God.

Plagal 4th Mode.

Gospel Reading

2nd Sunday of Luke
The Reading is from Luke 6:31-36

The Lord said, "As you wish that men would do to you, do so to them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful."

2nd Sunday of Luke

Hymns of the Day

Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Plagal 4th Mode

You descended from on high, O compassionate One, and condescended to be buried for three days, so that from the passions You might set us free. Our life and resurrection, O Lord, glory be to You.

Apolytikion for the Church in the 4th Mode

Blessed are You, O Christ our God; Who has shone forth the fishermen to be all wise, by sending upon them the Holy Spirit and through them, You gathered the whole world in Your net, O lover of Mankind, glory to You.

Seasonal Kontakion in the 2nd Mode

The protection of Christians unshameable, intercessor to our Holy Maker, unwavering, do not turn from the prayerful cries of those who are in sin; instead, come to us, for you are good; your loving help bring unto us, who are crying in faith to you: Hasten to intercession and speed now to supplication as a protection for all time, Theotokos, for those who honor you.

Wisdom of the Fathers

The sign that thou lovest God, is this, that thou lovest thy fellow; and if thou hatest thy fellow, thy hatred is towards God. For it is blasphemy if thou prayest before God while thou art wroth. For thy heart also convicts thee, that in vain thou multipliest words: thy conscience rightly judges that in thy prayers thou profitest nought.
St. Ephraim the Syrian
ON ADMONITION AND REPENTANCE.

Let us then, bearing in mind all the things which have been said, show forth great love even towards our enemies; and let us ease away that ridiculous custom, to which many of the more thoughtless give way, waiting for those that meet them to address them first.
St. John Chrysostom
Homily 18 on Matthew 5, 4th Century
