Myrrh-bearer Practice Today! Please meet at the bookstore for a brief practice after Liturgy!
Myrrh-bearers Closet at our Bookstore! Any gently-used, clean white dresses just taking-up space in your closet? Please consider donating it/them! They would be available for use by any Myrrh-bearer! Or maybe you have a dress of white fabric, and it could be altered for a Myrrh-bearer? Kindly speak with Stephanie Rossi of our bookstore! Our maidens prayerfully could be dressed in all white, for the Lamentations service the evening of April 26th. Having dresses available for our young ladies is a blessing!
Excusal from School on Great and Holy Friday This year, Friday, April 26th is a typical school day for non-Orthodox Christians. We invite you and your child/children to attend services and activities at St. Anthony’s during the day! A schedule of activities and services will be coming soon. Please help us prepare our youth and beautify our Church for the Pascha celebrations! If you would like a letter for school officials, please contact Father Stephen.
Sunday School is for kids grades K-8. Children will worship during Liturgy with their family, then following Holy Communion meet in the Small Hall.
Don’t Forget That a New Stewardship Card needs to be submitted to the church office EACH year. Thank you to those who have lovingly done so already! If you have not had a chance yet, cards for 2019 (as well as envelopes if you like to use them) are in the Small Hall. When you take a book, please write your name and book number on the list provided for our records. Thank you.
Ride Ministry If anyone from the Reno or Carson areas are willing and able to give people rides to/from church, please contact the office.
Are you willing to help in the bookstore on Sunday’s until 12:30p? Or in the Narthex to greet people? If so, please contact the church office.
Keep in Mind that both the Small and Big Halls are available to rent!
Archangel Michael’s Food Barrel is in the Small Hall year-round. Thank you for your donations! Please show your love and compassion for those in our community who are less fortunate.
Save the Date Sunday, April 28th: Great and Holy Pascha Begin the Resurrection celebration with Agape Vespers at 12p, followed by our Agape Luncheon. There’s no cost for this and everyone is invited. We’ll have an egg-hunt too for kids. Please bring your family and friends & let’s celebrate God’s goodness!
September 6th—8th: Greek Festival 2019 Contact Dimi Sakelarios or the church office with any questions or to volunteer to help!
Fasting During Great Lent Weekdays (M-F) are observed as Strict Fast Days. On these days we abstain from meat, dairy, fish with backbones, fowl, wine, and olive oil. Weekends are observed as Wine and Oil Days. On these days the fast is relaxed to permit wine and olive oil. See the fasting guidelines as shown on the ecclesiastical calendar or the Voice newsletter. Because diversity exists among fasting disciplines, consult with your parish priest about how to incorporate this discipline into your religious life.
Fasting before Presanctified Liturgy The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts is served on Wednesday evenings during Lent. It comes in the evening after a day of spiritual preparation and total abstinence. The faithful who are unable to make the effort of total fasting because of weakness or work, however, normally eat a light Lenten meal before noon.
