Please note that in accordance with the civil authorities and the directive of Metropolitan Gerasimos, our Services will no longer be open to the public and will be conducted only by Father Stephen and/or Father Paul with perhaps one assistant to help with the chanting. Please understand that these temporary measures are being taken in order to halt the continued spread of this virus, and our concern here is not just for one another but also for our neighbors throughout the larger community, and so the measures are being undertaken as an expression of love.
We will, however, be making every attempt to live stream each service. Please visit our parish Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/saintanthonychurchreno/ at the scheduled service time to view and follow. Also, our weekly bulletin will be available online via our website.
Reflection (by Fr. Michael Monos): On this Sunday, March 22, we will reach the mid-point of Great and Holy Lent, a time for re-evaluation, looking back and looking ahead, while keeping the Lord’s Cross squarely in our sights.
As we gaze upon the Lord’s Holy Cross, let’s be reminded that whatever uncertainty we are experiencing these days, our Savior, by means of His self-sacrifice, has conquered death, vanquished Hades, and opened the gates of Paradise. And we know that God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. (2 Ti 1:7) Therefore, we are emboldened to place all our hopes in Him, and the intercessions of our most holy Lady, the Theotokos, to disperse this virus.
As Orthodox Christians, we are bound together in a most profound way — in the undefiled faith that we confess, and most especially in the sacred Chalice of the Lord that we share. May our Lord graciously keep all of you in His abiding care, cool the fever of the sick, and strengthen those who care for them. And may He lead us to authentic repentance and the glorious feast of feasts, Holy Pascha!
