THIS SUNDAY, February 10, 2019 Orthros 9:00am Divine Liturgy 10:00am. Sunday of the Canaanite Woman.
GREAT LENT TO PENTECOST . Before the time of Pascha we enter a new liturgical cycle which is Great Lent. Christ manifests Himself and reveals God's plan which is to save us. He sends his only Son into the world to seek out his lost creature, exiled far from him. From the incarnation to the resurrection, Christ descends toward us. He empties himself to become a man and to assume all the stages of our poverty: slavery, sin, and death. Jesus suffers the cross and through his death he gives us life; out of the tomb surges the power of the resurrection. The light of the resurrected Christ illumines all the ends of the universe: the doors of death are shattered; hell is vanished. Through his humanity, he allows us to share in his divinity and shares his glory with us. The Kingdom of God has already been inaugurated. Christ has come and nothing is the same. Jesus said to Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this world."
