SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27: 7th Sunday of Luke. Orthros at 9:00am. Divine Liturgy at 10:00am. This Sunday's Greeter is Parish Councilman, Greg. Social Hour in the Parish Hall to follow divine services.
REFLECTION: Our Christian faith is rooted in the affirmation that was expressed by the Apostle Peter when he said about Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” This was the preaching of the Apostles at the time of Pentecost. The Son of God came into the world to save humankind, to die on the Cross. He then rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, and He will come again to this world for the Last Judgment and for His eternal reign. God’s love for us, for His fallen creature whom He created in His image, resulted in incarnation and death on the Cross which made deification of humankind possible. Faith in Christ is not just a Christian doctrine, but life itself. We express our faith with the joyful exclamation about Jesus, “My Lord and my God.” Each of us is present at His nativity, suffers in His passion on the Cross, rises with Him in the Resurrection, and awaits with fear His glorious return to judge the living and the dead. Without this faith there can hardly be any Christianity. Christianity is faith in Christ, Son of God, our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer: “The victory that overcomes the world, our faith” (1John 5:4).
Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Second Mode “When You descended to death, O Immortal Life, then, the light of Your divinity destroyed Hades. When You raised the dead from the depths of darkness, all the heavenly powers cried out, "Glory to You our Christ, the Giver of Life."
