UPCOMING EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:
SUNDAY OF ORTHODOXY: Next Sunday, March 8th is the Sunday of Orthodoxy. All children should bring an icon from home, and will participate in the procession of the icons during the service. Please bring your icons to hold during the procession.
GOYA MEETING: TODAY, March 1st, there will be a GOYA Meeting in the board room following church. Today is also the last day to register for the Michigan area GOYA Lenten Retreat at St. George Southgate, Saturday, March 14th from 11:30 am - 7 pm.
KOULOUMA LENTEN LUNCHEON: The St. Helen Philoptochos will host their 83rd annual Koulouma Lenten luncheon on Monday, March 2nd, immediately following the Great Compline Service. Tickets will be on sale after church today or at the door
PRESANCTIFIED LITURGY/LENTEN SUPPER: On Wednesday, March 3rd, following the Presanctified Liturgy at 5:30 pm, we will have our first Potluck Lenten supper, hosted by the members of our Choir. That evening there will be a presentation by Fr. Teodor Petrutiu, on “The Role of Iconography in the Orthodox Church”. Everyone is encouraged to attend this evening of worship, learning, and fellowship.
LENTEN SEAFOOD BUFFET: Each Friday evening, from February 28th through April 10th, the HCC will be serving a delicious Lenten Seafood Buffet Supper from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, no reservations are required. If you would like to volunteer to work the door, contact John Avdoulos at javdoulos@hksinc.com
H.O.P.E. and J.O.Y. GOOD DEEDS – Our HOPE & JOY groups will meet on Sunday March 15th with their families for lunch, and to assemble Easter baskets for needy children. Please reserve your place before 3/7/20, by contacting Frances Marinos at fmarinos@comcast.net
NEWS AND NOTICES:
THANK YOU! Many thanks to all who donated to the HOPE & JOY Lenten Good Deeds project! Because of your generous donations, our children will assemble baskets with treats, books, and personal items that will bring a big smile to many needy area children this Easter.
FRIDAY SALUTATIONS/CONFESSION: Fr. Teodor will be available for one hour each Friday after the Salutations service to hear confession for those who are interested. If that time is not convenient for you, contact the church office to schedule an appointment.
SATURDAY OF SOULS: This Saturday, March 6th, there will be the final Divine Liturgy for Saturday of Souls. If you cannot come and would like the name of your departed to be commemorated, fill the enclosed sheet and give it to Father or to one of the Altar helpers.
TRIUMPH OF ORTHODOXY VESPERS: Students (ages 7 – HS) are invited to participate in the Triumph of Orthodoxy Vespers on Sunday March 8th, 6:00 pm, at the Antiochian Orthodox Basilica of St. Mary. Fr. William Bartz will be the Guest Speaker. For more info, 248.252.8184
COLLEGE CONNECTION: If you have a young person attending college who has changed their address, or who we may not know about, please contact the church office or Cathy Brylinski at cbrylins@gmail.com with their Name, Address, and College they are attending.
