UPCOMING EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:
Although the church has reopened for services, no group meetings or activities, including Sunday School, Choir, Events at the Hellenic Cultural Center, etc. will be held until further notice.
ADULT BIBLE STUDY: Our Adult Bible Study group will meet on the Zoom platform on Tuesday, September 15th at 7:00 pm. All adults are welcome to join the conversation, as the group continues discussion of the Book of Job, and its relevance in the contemporary world. Zoom link is: https://zoom.us/j/7345256789, Meeting ID: 734 525 6789 For more information, contact: stcons2@gmail.com
PALM CROSSES/ELEVATION OF THE HOLY CROSS: Next Sunday, September 20th, we will take the Holy Cross around the church in procession in recognition of the feast day of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. At the end of the service, Father will distribute the palm crosses that were blessed on Palm Sunday (and have been in the deep freeze since April!)
SOLES FOR SOULS: Something as simple as a pair of shoes can make a big difference! On Sunday, September 20th, when you come to church, please bring a pair of shoes to donate. New or “gently loved” used shoes for adults and children are needed, which “Soles-4-Souls” will use to distribute to agencies serving the homeless in the USA. By donating your shoes, you can give somebody a life-changing opportunity and help lift people out of poverty.
TZETZIS ORDINATION: Saints Constantine and Helen Church will host the ordination of Deacon Niko Tzetzis on Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 am. His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas will preside over the ordination of Deacon Tzetzis, who will be joining a parish in Cincinnati, OH.
NEWS AND NOTICES
CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to Fr. Alex Radulescu, who will be serving the Holy Cross Church in Farmington Hills as Parish Priest! Holy Cross is blessed to have Fr. Alex, Presbytera Sylvana and their children join their parish community.
SENIOR DISCUSSION SURVEY: Miss Emma and Miss Mandi, who lead our Senior Discussion group of 10th – 12th grade students, want their participants to have a say in what topics are covered, and what community service activities they would like to take on. All responses to these questions will be kept anonymous. High School students, please respond to this quick survey at the following link: https://forms.gle/vrPGktynhbHcnzCg8
VOLUNTEER USHERS NEEDED: With all the extra COVID procedures necessary for the church (taking temps, usher to seats, communion, bulletins, etc.) we need some extra support in the Narthex. We need men and women who are healthy, on the younger side, and able to get to church by 9:00 am. Please contact Annette at the church office, stcons2@gmail.com or 734.525.6789 if you are able to volunteer for a Sunday service.
FEED THE NEEDY: All of our Sunday School families have received contribution folders for the Men’s Club John Koinis “Feed the Needy” program, providing Thanksgiving dinners to low-income family homes in Westland and Livonia. Donation envelopes for Feed the Needy are also available at the Pangari and in the church office. The Men’s Club golf outing, which is the primary fundraiser for the project was cancelled earlier this year, due to COVID 19 restrictions.
COLLEGE CONNECTION: More than 40 “care packages” were sent out to our parish college students who are away at school or studying from home this semester. Filled with supplies, treats, and gift cards, this annual tradition from our Moms’ Group is a welcome arrival for our young scholars and future church leaders, who are making us proud with their accomplishments!
CLERGY-LAITY CONGRESS: The 45th Bi-annual Clergy-Laity Congress, presented by the Archdiocese of America was held on September 9th and 10th. Convened by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, this was the largest Clergy-Laity Congress in the 89-year history of the Archdiocese of America, with over 1,100 delegates from coast to coast. Representing Saints Constantine and Helen parish were Fr. Teodor and Parish Council members Dino Lembesis, John Avdoulos, and Mark Chuey.
