Prokeimenon. Plagal Second Mode. Psalm 27.9,1.
O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance.
Verse: To you, O Lord, I have cried, O my God.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 2:16-20.
Brethren, knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Plagal Second Mode.
Sunday after Holy Cross
The Reading is from Mark 8:34-38; 9:1
The Lord said: "If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? For what can a man give in return for his life? For whoever is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."
Sunday after Holy Cross

NEWS AND NOTICES
QUESTIONS FOR FATHER TEODOR: In this unusual year with no regular Sunday School classes, Father Teodor will take a few minutes on Sunday mornings to answer questions from our young people (or adults!) about our faith. Questions can be submitted online using this link: https://forms.gle/7ae8mqd6DNSghbQs6
SENIOR DISCUSSION SURVEY: Miss Emma and Miss Mandi, who lead our Senior Discussion group of 10th – 12th grade students, want their participants to have a say in what topics are covered, and what community service activities they would like to take on. All responses to these questions will be kept anonymous. High School students, please respond to this quick survey at the following link: https://forms.gle/vrPGktynhbHcnzCg8
CHILDREN’S GARDEN: If your young people helped to paint rocks or plant flowers in our children’s garden with the HOPE and JOY groups last fall and this is the first time they are back in church, please take a minute to go and look at the beautiful result of all their work in our Children’s Garden!
VOLUNTEER USHERS NEEDED: With all the extra COVID procedures necessary for the church (taking temps, usher to seats, communion, bulletins, etc.) we need some extra support in the Narthex. We need men and women who are healthy, on the younger side, and able to get to church by 9:30 am. Please contact Annette at the church office, stcons2@gmail.com or 734.525.6789 if you are able to volunteer for a Sunday service.
FEED THE NEEDY: All of our Sunday School families have received contribution folders for the Men’s Club John Koinis “Feed the Needy” program, providing Thanksgiving dinners to low-income family homes in Westland and Livonia. Donation envelopes for Feed the Needy are also available at the Pangari and in the church office. The Men’s Club golf outing, which is the primary fundraiser for the project was cancelled earlier this year, due to COVID 19 restrictions.
