Who makes his angels spirits and his ministers a flame of fire
Verse: Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God you are very great.

The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 2:2-10.

Brethren, if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him, while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will. For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. It has been testified somewhere, "What is man that thou art mindful of him, or the son of man, that thou carest for him? Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honor, putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one. For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering.

And a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon physicians and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind him, and touched the fringe of his garment; and immediately her flow of blood ceased. And Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" When all denied it, Peter and those who were with him said, "Master, the multitudes surround you and press upon you!" But Jesus said, "Some one touched me; for I perceive that power has gone forth from me." And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace." While he was still speaking, a man from the ruler's house came and said, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more." But Jesus on hearing this answered him, "Do not fear; only believe, and she shall be well." And when he came to the house, he permitted no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And all were weeping and bewailing her; but he said, "Do not weep; for she is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. PHILOPTOCHOS SUNDAY: Sunday, November 15^th is Philoptochos Sunday. All members of the St. Helen Philoptochos are encouraged to join us in church that morning. There will be an Artoclasia and a Memorial service honoring Philoptochos members, and a special collection for the St. Basil’s Academy.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING: Our parish Fall General Assembly meeting will be held immediately following the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, November 15^th in the church. For those unable to attend in person, please participate in the meeting via live video-feed on the Sts. Constantine and Helen website.

PHILOPTOCHOS BAKE SALE: The Philoptochos will be holding a Thanksgiving Bakes Sale after church on Sunday, November 22^nd. They will be selling home baked and pre-packaged Greek Sweets for $15/box (10 pieces), and frozen Spanakopita/Spinach Pies (1/2 pan) for $30. To pre-order, contact Carol Bozadzis at 248.471.4369. Curb-side pick will also be available.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY: Our Adult Bible Study group will not be meeting this week. Bible Study will resume on Tuesday December 1^st.

NEWS AND NOTICES:

OPERATION GRATITUDE THANKS: Thanks to all of our parishioners who brought in Halloween candy for Operation Gratitude! We donated 90 pounds of candy that will be distributed to our heroes serving in the US Military and our US First Responders.

FUN WALK VOLUNTEERS: An enormous thank you to our GOYA volunteers who helped out with last week’s Fall Fest Fun Walk event: Ava, Evangelia, Isavella, Irene, Kosta, Lefteri, Nicole, Sophie, Stella, and Xander. You guys were great! A special thank you also, to the families who came out with their children for Family Sunday; and to our amazing Sunday School team who pulled this fun event together! Our children are blessed to have so much loving support in their church community!

ICONOGRAPHY: We are expecting delivery on some of the iconostasis icons in the next few months! We have reached 86% of our fundraising goal for our Iconography project, but several icons are still available for sponsorship as of 11/5/20:

HIERARCHS: St. Gregory the Theologian, St. Athanasios, St. Cyril of Alexandria, St. Gregory of Nyssa, and St. Iakovos (James) ($9,000 sponsorship each)

HELLENIC CULTURAL CENTER REOPENING: At the current time, the State of Michigan is allowing banquet facilities to open for events with reduced capacity. Masks and social distance restrictions are still in place, along with increased precautions in the preparation and serving of food and drink. DIVINE LITURGY BOOKS FOR SALE: Our parish bookstore is offering Divine Liturgy books for sale for $20 each. Parishioners are asked to bring their own book to church and take it home with them when they leave each week. For those not able to attend church at this time, books are available at the church office during business hours.

QUESTIONS FOR FATHER TEODOR: In this unusual year with no regular Sunday School classes, Father Teodor will take a few minutes on Sunday mornings to answer questions from our young people (or adults!) about our faith. VOLUNTEER USHERS NEEDED: With all the extra COVID procedures necessary for the church (taking temps, usher to seats, communion, bulletins, etc.) we need some extra support in the Narthex. Memorial Service Information

Please call the church office to schedule memorials in a timely manner so we can include the information in the bulletin. On the day of the service, please bring a list of family names you would like Father to remember in prayer. At this time, due to COVID restrictions, koliva that has been prepared for the memorial service cannot be distributed to parishioners, but will be returned to the family to take home. We are not currently allowed to have coffee hour, or distribute any cookies, paximadia or koulourakia.

Non-Orthodox Visitors Please Note: Holy Communion is offered to Orthodox Christians who have properly prepared themselves. Visitors are welcome to receive the Antidoron (Blessed Bread), which is distributed at the end of the Divine Liturgy.

At the same time both signifying that it is easy for Him to raise the dead ... and also teaching us not to fear death; for that it is not death, but is henceforth become a sleep.
