O Lord Jesus, unto Thee Thy lamb doth cry with a great voice: O my Bridegroom, Thee I love; and seeking Thee, I now contest, and with Thy baptism am crucified and buried. I suffer for Thy sake, that I may reign with Thee; for Thy sake I die, that I may live in Thee: accept me offered out of longing to Thee as a spotless sacrifice. Lord, save our souls through her intercessions, since Thou art great in mercy.

The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 12:6-14.

Brethren, having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who contributes, in liberality; he who gives aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. The Reading is from Matthew 9:1-8

At that time, getting into a boat Jesus crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say 'Rise and walk?' But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" he then said to the paralytic -- "Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

MUDDY ACRES MOMS GROUP EVENT: Our Moms Group will be getting together on Sunday, August 7^th, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Muddy Acres Flower Farm, in Plymouth, MI. If you haven't been to Muddy Acres, it's a low-key, local, and naturally gorgeous flower farm experience. You arrive, grab a provided mason jar & clippers, and walk up and down aisles of flowers to make your own bouquet! After we make unique and beautiful bouquets, we'll enjoy a simple bite to eat and loosely chat about our vision for our Saints Constantine & Helen Moms' Group. YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A MOM TO ATTEND! This event is $30 per person and will include your bouquet and vase, munchies, and beverages. Please bring your own camp chair! You can pay by Venmo (@corrinstamo), PayPal (cstamatakos@gmail.com), or by credit card in person or over the phone. Looking forward to being together!

MENS CLUB MEETING: The Men’s Club will meet after the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, August 7^th in the HCC hall. Please try to attend, as we will be planning our next golf outing which will be held at Fellows Creek Golf Club at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 10.

NEWS AND NOTICES:

ST. PANTELEIMON FEAST DAY AND FESTIVAL: Held in Lexington, MI this festival has become an annual tradition for many Detroit area Orthodox. It will be held on Sunday, July 24, and on Thursday, July 27^th, at the Saint Panteleimon Chapel. The festival features lambs on the souvla, along with other delicious Greek food, Greek music and dancing, and picnic areas for families to make a day of it!

GOLF OUTING SPONSORS NEEDED: The St. Cons Men’s Club will be holding its 10^th Annual Charity Golf Outing to raise funds to support our annual Feed the Needy Program on Saturday, September 10th. Last year, they provided Thanksgiving dinners to 376 needy people in Westland and Livonia. Sponsorship opportunities start at $200 for Hole Sponsors. GOYA CAN/BOTTLE COLLECTION: To help raise funds for future projects, GOYA is going to be collecting returnable bottles and cans during the summer. The boxes are in the vestibule near the church office. Drop-offs should be clean, intact, and still have the labels on them. They can be brought in any day of the week during church office or on Sundays.

SUMMER SURVIVAL: Our Summer Survival Board is back in the church Narthex. Even though church attendance unfortunately decreases during the summer months, youth and other programs increase their activity, while regular building and property maintenance, utilities, and other expenses continue. That is why, again this year, we are asking for your help by making an additional donation to our “Summer Survival” campaign. You can make a donation online at stcons.org or by cash or check at the church office (or by mail). Your help will make a big difference!

MEMORIAL SERVICES: Please call the church office to schedule all memorials and coffee hour sponsorships at least two weeks in advance. On the day of the service, please bring a list of family names you would like Father to remember in prayer. Koliva will be distributed at the coffee hour; if you wish to bring in paximadia, koulourakia, or other dry cookie it may also be distributed. Coffee Hour sponsorship is not required, however the church is grateful to those who wish to make a sponsorship donation of $150, and the HCC will set up a table with cloth and coffee, etc. for your family.

Non-Orthodox Visitors Please Note: Holy Communion is offered to Orthodox Christians who have properly prepared themselves. Visitors are welcome to receive the Antidoron (Blessed Bread), which is distributed at the end of the Divine Liturgy.

Wisdom of the Fathers

Here he names a comprehensive thing. For the Apostleship even is called a ministry, and every spiritual work is a ministry. This is indeed a name of a peculiar office (viz. the 502 diaconate); however, it is used in a general sense. "Or he that teacheth, on teaching." See with what indifference he places them, the little first and the great afterwards, again giving us the same lesson, not to be puffed up or elated...."Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation." And this is a species of teaching too. For "if ye have any word of exhortation," it says, "speak unto the people." (Acts xiii. 15.) Then to show that it is no great good to follow after virtue unless this is done with the proper rule, he proceeds, "He that giveth" (<greek>metadidois</greek>, imparteth), "let him do it with simplicity." For it is not enough to give, but we must do it with munificence also, for this constantly answereth to the name of simplicity...For it is not enough to show mercy, but it behooves us to do it with a largeness and an ungrudging spirit, or rather not with an ungrudging, but even with a cheerful and rejoicing one, for not grudging does not amount to rejoicing...writing to the Corinthians also, he insisted very strongly upon. For to rouse them to such largeness he said, "He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. (2 Cor. ix. 6.) But to correct their temper he added, "Not grudgingly or of necessity." (ib. 7.) For both the shower of mercy ought to have, both ungrudgingness and pleasure.
