The Saint Demetrios Fall Greek Festival is this weekend! Here at St. Demetrios, like so many other Greek Orthodox Churches across the country, the Festivals are the primary fund raisers for the parish. I continue to be amazed at those very talented and helpful souls who give so much of their time and talent for the good of the Church. We have many hard workers, both up front and behind the scenes. I am truly grateful for them. Their example is one of true stewardship.
Certainly, there will be times when we grow tired and weary, wondering why the lion’s share of the work falls on the same people every year. I urge patience and reflection —remember why we do this. We work hard and we give for the support and maintenance of our parish. If you have not considered helping, it is not too late to volunteer. Working for the Church is everyone’s responsibility. As our Lord says in Luke 17:10:
"So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.' "
Come be a part of the fun and festivities. We welcome anyone willing to pitch in. And we thank you.
