SUNDAY SCHOOL TODAY Why do we have rules? Can we live without them? It’s time to meet Moses and learn about the gift our loving God gave His people through him.

DIVINE LITURGY ON THANKSGIVING MORNING What better way to celebrate this National Holiday than to give thanks to God for His many blessings, preserving our lives in peace and granting us enduring freedoms in our country to this day? It is a privilege to assemble together and to pray on this particular day. Let’s gather this Thursday to offer thanks through our Liturgical worship and to receive Christ, the nourisher of our souls. Orthos prayers at 9AM, Divine Liturgy immediately following. See you then!

XRONIA POLLA! The Feast of St. Katherine and St. Mercurious, both Great Martyrs is celebrated Monday, November 25. St. Andrew the Apostle is also commemorated this Saturday, 30 November. Many years to all who have any of these Saints as their Namesake or have loved ones named for them.

YES, SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETS EACH WEEK unless otherwise noted.

WE’RE IN THE MIDST OF THE ADVENT FAST NOW Forty days of preparation for Christ’s Birth began last Friday—let’s do our best to prepared for Christ’s coming birth! This fast is lighter than most—it allows for the consumption of fish on all days except Wednesday and Friday and then from December 13-24 we omit eating fish on these days until the Holy Nativity Feast. Lenten guidelines omit the eating of meat and dairy (including eggs) throughout Advent. Shellfish, legumes, vegetables, fruits, vegetable oil, grains, nuts—all these foods are acceptable Lenten fare. Blessed Advent to all! The bookstore has Lenten cookbooks available if you are looking for ideas.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST VISIT TO ST. GEORGE? If you are visiting our parish this morning, welcome! Orthodox Church tradition encourages Orthodox Christians in good standing with the Church to approach the Holy Chalice for Communion... however, if you are not Orthodox, we ask that you please refrain. All worshipers are welcome to receive antidoron (a piece of blessed bread) immediately following the Divine Liturgy. Please stay for fellowship hour that we might get to know you.

WORSHIPING THE TRUE & LIVING GOD Worshiping the Living God, the All-Holy Trinity, is a witness of our faith in and love for Him. The Divine Liturgy is the service of thanksgiving to God. The Divine Liturgy is also the service of particular nurture for the Orthodox Christian--Christ is Present in the elements of Holy Communion. He nurtures those who approach with fear (reverence), faith and love. Those who partake of Communion receive God within. This is a great Mystery, not to be taken lightly, but one that the Orthodox Christian is bid to COME. Please avail yourself of the opportunities to worship the Lord and to receive Him in faith.

VALET PARKING Some parishioners have difficulty walking distances and find it hard to park near enough to the church on Sunday mornings.  If this applies to you, please do the following: park in the loading zone in front of the church, and come indoors with your car key and ask in the office for someone to park the car for you and you will be assisted.  We are here to help one another.  Please ask for help if needed.  Thank you.

NAME DAYS If you would like to participate in a Divine Liturgy on your Name Day, please let Fr. Leo know to arrange this beforehand.

SPECIAL PRAYER SUPPORT WHEN NEEDED Fr. can meet you here at the church and offer particular prayers for you if you are going to be traveling or are preparing to have medical procedures done (hospitalization, etc.) He is available to make hospital visits and will routinely visit those in convalescent care. Please arrange with him according to need. Thank you.

Saint Clement was instructed in the Faith of Christ by the Apostle Peter. He became Bishop of Rome in the year 91, the third after the death of the Apostles. He died as a martyr about the year 100 during the reign of Trajan.

Angelic powers appeared at Your tomb, and those guarding it became like dead, and at Your grave Mary was standing, seeking Your most pure body. You plundered Hades, not being tempted by it; You encountered the virgin, granting life. O Lord, who rose from the dead, glory to You!

Today is the prelude of God's good will and the heralding of the salvation of mankind. In the temple of God, the Virgin is presented openly, and she proclaimeth Christ unto all. To her, then, with a great voice let us cry aloud: Rejoice, O thou fulfilment of the Creator's dispensation.

Today, the most pure temple of the Savior, the precious bridal chamber and Virgin, the sacred treasure of God, enters the house of the Lord, bringing the grace of the Divine Spirit. The Angels of God praise her. She is the heavenly tabernacle.

Brethren, God who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God: not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.' " And he said, "All these I have observed from my youth." And when Jesus heard it, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." But when he heard this he became sad, for he was very rich. Jesus looking at him said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Those who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?" On Saturday, November 9, over 200 delegates, members of the Philoptochos and clergy attended the Metropolis of Boston Clergy-Laity Conference. Usually Saturday is reserved for family activities, but this morning the larger family of our Church was the one we attended to.
