PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS Today is the last day to vote for Parish Council members.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING This morning the parish General Assembly will take place during the fellowship hour.
SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENTS – Class will meet this morning during the parish’s General Assembly. See you then!
TEN DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! As we get closer to the Feast of Christ’s Holy Nativity, we narrow our fasting choices as the Church teaches. Please keep to the standard fasting fare up through Christmas Eve and we will break the Fast and celebrate our Lord’s Holy Nativity together! For now, continue consuming fasting foods we’ve been eating since the beginning of Advent (minus fish). Lenten guidelines omit the eating of meat and dairy (including eggs) throughout Advent. Shellfish, legumes, vegetables, fruits, vegetable oil, grains, nuts—all these foods are acceptable Lenten fare. Let’s do our best to honor the fasting traditions, exercising our souls in obedience, enjoying the blessings of God.
THANKFUL TO YOU! Special thanks to Spyro and Eleni for the beautiful poinsettia plants and to Pat who faithfully cleans the church routinely.
DECORATING OUR CHURCH Eleni and Marina are planning to beautify the nave in anticipation of the Nativity Feast. If you would like to help, please let them know.
CHRISTMAS SERVICES (Note—not this coming Tuesday, but the next): On Tuesday evening, December 24, we will celebrate a (candlelight) vesperal Divine Liturgy for Christ’s Holy Nativity beginning at 5:30PM. After the Vespers service, all are invited to drive to Bangor International Airport to sing carols for the general public who may be passing through. On Wednesday, Christmas Day, the Orthros of Christmas will begin at 9AM, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10. CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!
BEAUTIFUL PRE-PACKAGED CHRISTMAS CARDS are available in the bookstore at a reasonable price. We also have Nativity icons and a new set of Orthodox commentaries on the Book of Revelation. Learn more about these books here: http://www.zoepress.us/home.html
If anyone would like to order one or more sets, please let Presbytera know.
