Sunday Memorials, Artoclasias and Other Blessings:
Please inform the church office well in advance of Sunday mornings for all memorials, artoclasias, 40 day blessings and other blessings so as not to disrupt the Divine Liturgy. If any requests or lists of names are received after the Great Entrance they will have to wait until the following Sunday.
****Additionally, in order to preserve the sanctity of the Divine Liturgy, please wait to light candles in the St. Nectarios Chapel at the correct time. If one arrives after the Great Entrance, they will have to wait until the end of Liturgy, while the Andithoron is being given out, to light candles in the Chapel.
Sunday School Graduation:
Today, Sunday, June 9th, classes will begin as usual. Upon completion of the Divine Liturgy, we will acknowledge each class and its teachers, and attendance awards will be given. Every child will receive a participation award, followed by the tenth grade graduation ceremony. Graduates of our tenth grade are required to write a brief reflection on their Sunday School experience and one student will be asked to share his/her thoughts. We will also introduce our graduate school graduates who are completing their twelfth and final year of Sunday School. New teachers and assistants are always needed. If you believe that you would enjoy sharing your faith with our students, please consider joining our team. Contact Darla Matsakis or Anna Kourkoulakos for additional details.
Scholarship Presentations:
Along with recognizing our Church School Graduates and Seniors, scholarships will be awarded. The St. George Endowment Committee, in the name of Aspasia Tassos Smith, and the Hellenic Musical Society, in memory of Dr. George Tzanakos, will be announcing their scholarship recipients for 2019.

Defining Orthodox Christian Stewardship:
In Oriented Leadership, their book on Orthodox Christian leadership, Williams and McKibben define stewardship as the call of the faithful to share willingly the gifts that God has bestowed on them, including sharing these gifts for God’s work. Stewardship is devotion and service to God and His Church as persons, as families, as a Parish, as a Metropolis, as a National Church, and as the Church Universal. Stewardship is our active commitment to use ALL our time, talent and treasure for the benefit of humankind in grateful acknowledgement of Christ’s redeeming love.
Stewardship is caring for the needs of others.
Stewardship is offering one’s self to God as He offered Himself to us.
Stewardship is what a person does after saying “I believe…” as proof of that belief.
