Godparent Sunday:
Beloved Friends and Parishioners of St. George,
This morning we celebrate the special relationship between Godparents and their spiritual children. They share a unique bond and their union has been truly blessed by God. Under the struggles of daily life, sometimes Godparents forget the immense spiritual responsibility they assumed when they accepted this very important spiritual role. Today, in the presence of our Lord, we invite you to recommit yourselves and your Godchildren to a new life in Christ. During the course of the Divine Liturgy and the reciting of the Nicene Creed, everyone is given a new opportunity to reaffirm in our hearts the pledge, which was made on the day of the Sacrament of Baptism and in which we rejected the Devil and joined ourselves to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God Bless all our children and all our Godparents!
