CELEBRATIONS WITH DINNER AND FELLOWSHIP
The two great feast days ahead of us will be celebrated with the Divine Liturgy in the evening in order to make them more available to those who work during the day. Following the services we will gather for a festive potluck meal together. According to the calendar, fish is allowed on both the Transfiguration and the Dormition feasts. May the Lord grant us spiritual strength, love and zeal to prepare for these glorious holy days! Blessed Fast!
THE STRUGGLE FOR VIRTUE - BOOK FORUM
We are reading and discussing "The Struggle for Virtue: Asceticism in a Modern Secular Society" book by Archbishop Averky (Taushev). The book is available at our bookstore and from Amazon.com. The text offers wisdom, scriptural support, practical directions and it is very enriching. It's a short book and we will be reading 3 chapters each week.
Our next group will meet on Tuesday, August 7 after the Akathist service (12 noon). Even if you haven't read the chapters, you are welcome to join in the discussion. Bring your own lunch and join us! Prepare the Introduction and Chapters 1-3.
