JESUS CONDEMNED HYPOCRISY
We, Christians, celebrate the Resurrection of Christ from the dead on Sunday and the new life and hope He has secured for us for eternity. Sunday is not an optional day for us to use it as we please. It is the Day of the Lord and He has prescribed it as a Commandment for all of us to gather together to celebrate His Resurrection from the dead and partake of His mystical supper. The woman in this Biblical passage was “bend over,” handicapped, yet she came to the Synagogue to worship God. She and all the other handicapped people who come to Church on Sundays will be the witnesses against us who, although we are well, we do not go to Church to honor the Lord and partake of His Mystical Supper, of Holy Communion. All our excuses will not stand the light of Christ if we can and do not come to worship God with our brothers and sisters and honor His Son. He offered His Life for our salvation. If we do not go to Church on Sunday, We violate the Commandment of God about the Sabbath, for us Christians, Sunday, and we will be accountable to Him at His 2nd glorious coming. We should honor Christ not out of fear, but rather out of gratitude and love for His great blessings to us.Jesus also spoke about hypocrisy. It is the child of boastfulness, vainglory and love of money. The hypocrite wears a mask, like the actors in the ancient theatre, to hide who he truly is. He appears to be someone else. The jealous and envious person appears to be compassionate and loving to others. But his motives, ambitions and deeds do not agree with his words and deeds. His actions and deeds truly reveal who he really is. They unmask Him.Our Lord unmasked the hypocrisy of the Rabbi. Every hypocrite will be unmasked sooner or later in his life, but especially before God. Christ advises us to love our brothers and sisters with a sincere love, without any cunning and hypocrisy, as He loved us and saved us.With love,Fr. John P. Angelis

Prokeimenon. Fourth Tone. Psalm 67.35,26.
God is wonderful among his saints.
Verse: Bless God in the congregations.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 3:23-29; 4:1-5.
Brethren, before faith came, we were confined under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. So that the law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate; but he is under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. So with us; when we were children, we were slaves to the elemental spirits of the universe. But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
10th Sunday of Luke
The Reading is from Luke 13:10-17
At that time, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?" As he said this, all his adversaries were put to shame; and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.
Currently, St Nectarios has a mixture of in church and on-line Services. Each month, there are usualy two in-Church Services: a Saturday Divine Liturgy and a Sunday Typica Service. The celebration of most on-line Services is conducted by Fr. John Angelis (in Seattle, WA) and the St. Nectarios Choir/Readers/Volunteers (in the Tri-Cities, WA). These on-line Services allows Father John to join us for Services without requiring travel to the Tricities.
The faithful may view/participate in the online Services on the Saint Nectarios-Pasco Group on Facebook. Online Services will be streamed and posted after they are complete. For many of the Services, the text is included to help the faithful follow the Service.
