Memorial: A 10 year memorial for Adriani Thomaidou, beloved wife of Demetri, devoted mother of Christina Carmichael and her husband Terry,  Maria, Stella, Joanna and Elena. Grandmother to Cassandra, Nicoletta, Adriana, Steven, Mark, Adriana, Maximos and Andreas.
May her memory be eternal.

Commemoration of 9/11: ThisTuesday is the 17 year anniversary of 9/11.  We will pray for the victims and the surviving families of the 9/11 Tragedy.

 

Holy Cross Celebration: Metropolitan Evangelos invites us all to celebrate Holy Cross Day on Sunday, September 16th   at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park.  All parishioners are asked to support/attend this celebration.  The churches in New Jersey will not celebrate Divine Liturgy on September 16th. Saint Nicholas will be closed.

 

Regular Schedule: Our fall/winter schedule of worship services begins Sunday, September 23rd. Orthros begins at 9:00am and Divine Liturgy begins at 10:00am. 

 

Philoptochos News: General Meeting: All members are invited to attendour meeting on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 7:00pm.
Food Donations: We are collecting nonperishable food items for the homeless. A basket is placed in the Fellowship Hall. Thank you for your support!
Save the Date: The Ladies Philoptochos of Saint Nicholas invite you to our Harvest Glendi (formally known as Fall Into the Groove) with dinner, dancing and family fun catered by Ooh La La Catering with music by DJ Chris on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm in the Saint Nicholas Fellowship Hall. GOYA (Teen Ministry) The first GOYA Night of the new Ecclesiastical Year will be this Tuesday, September 11th at 7:30pm in the fellowship hall.  If you know anyone 12-18 years old entering the 7th through 12th grade, tell them or bring them to come see the many great experiences to be had in GOYA and the opportunity to make lifelong friendships especially the most important relationship- Jesus Christ our Lord..  There will also be a parent meeting and parent social in the conference room during the GOYA gathering.

 

Annual Greek Festival September 21-23: Please join us in helping Saint Nicholas once again proudly showcase its faith and heritage via our wonderful Festival, in which we were rated First Place in one category and 2nd place in another by Bergen 201 Magazine in 2017. Every week we will be circulating an updated Festival list. Please respond by sending your name, e-mail address, and which station you would like to volunteer for to office@stnicholasnj.org OPA! Calling All Young Adults (ages 18–40) to join our “New” Young Adults Ministry!!

Mark your calendars for Wednesday evening, September 26th, the kick off to our “Young Adults Small Group” ministry open to both singles and married couples interested in growing in their Christian faith and learning how to apply the teachings of Christ in their daily lives.  This is not about ritual; it is building our relationship with our Lord and going deeper in our faith.  We will be meeting monthly at Anton and Irene Ayvas’ home.  Call Irene at 201-803-2307 or email her iayvas@yahoo.com for further details.  Please feel welcome to join us to see what this is all about and bring a friend!!

Matching Gift Program: Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by their employees. Corporate matching gifts are a great way for Saint Nicholas stewards to maximize personal contributions to our church and increase the impact of their gift. By taking advantage of a company's matching gift program, you may be able to double or even triple the amount of a contribution. For more information contact Mary Aletras at mary@stnicholasnj.org . Check with your employer to see if they will match a donation to our Saint Nicholas.
