The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 1:10-14; 2:1-3.

IN THE BEGINNING, Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of thy hands; they will perish, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment, like a mantle thou wilt roll them up, and they will be changed. But thou art the same, and thy years will never end." But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation?

Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him.

And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the door; and he was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven." Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, "Why does this man speak thus? It is a blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"-he said to the paralytic-"I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home." And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"

PHILOPTOCHOS LENTEN RETREAT: On Saturday, April 13th our Philoptochos will hold a Lenten Retreat from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, THE ABC’S OF HEALTHY, HOLY, SELF-CARE: ABIDE, BREATHE, CONNECT. The presenter will be Presbytera Kerry Pappas, Coordinator of Clergy and Seminarian Couple Care - Center for Family Care, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Cost for the retreat is $45/person, which includes workshop materials, continental Breakfast and Lenten Lunch. A WORKSHOP FOR COUPLES: On Friday, April 12 following the 6:00 Salutations to the Theotokos service, St. Cons will host THE PRACTICE OF FORGIVENESS IN MARRIAGE, a workshop for couples. This workshop will also be presented by Presbytera Kerry Pappas from the GOA Center for Family Care.

HOLY FRIDAY YOUTH RETREAT: From the Mystical Supper to Christ’s final moments on the cross and burial in the tomb, our youth will spend May 3rd, Holy Friday afternoon from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm in learning, reflection, and prayer. Please contact the church office by Sunday, April 21^st to let us know your young people’s availability to participate in this special Holy Friday Retreat. stcons2@gmail.com or 734.525.6789. The church will provide a letter signed by Father Teodor requesting an excused absence for your child from school on that day.

TARAMOSALATA SALE: If you were one of the many who were disappointed last Sunday that the Taramosalata sold out quickly, we have great news! The Philoptochos will have delicious taramosalata on sale at today’s coffee hour. Get it while it lasts!

ORATORICAL FESTIVAL: The St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival for our parish will be held next Sunday, April 7^TH following the Divine Liturgy. The festival is a national program where Orthodox youth, grades 7 – 12, present speeches discussing the Greek Orthodox faith and the Church.

PALM SUNDAY LUNCHEON: Save the Date! Our parish will hold its traditional Palm Sunday fish luncheon on Sunday, April 28^th, immediately following the Divine Liturgy service. Plan to stay after service and attend with your family, as we begin Holy Week together. Tickets will be on sale soon!

VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL: SAVE THE DATES! Our Vacation Church school will be held the week of June 17^th – 21^st. If you have a young person K – 6^th grade, save this week for learning about our faith, making new friends, and big fun! If you can help, contact Frances Marinos at fmarinos@comcast.net.

KOULOUMA THANKS – Thank you to all who attended our Koulouma Lenten Luncheon last week, raising funds for our St. Helen Philoptochos charities. Thanks also to the people who cooked, to our volunteers who worked, and to our terrific GOYAns, who volunteered to bus tables. Kali Sarakosti!

HOLY WEEK BOOKS ARE IN! The parish bookstore has just received a shipment of Holy Week books, and we are again in stock. The books sell for $35 each. We also have Anatoli Red Egg dye just in from Greece. While you’re in the bookstore, consider a children’s book, a small icon, or an “Evzone” teddy bear to fill out your children’s Easter Baskets!

CONFESSION: Fr. Teodor will be available for one hour each Friday after the Salutations service to hear confession for those who are interested. If that time is not convenient for you, contact the church office to schedule an appointment.

READERS NEEDED: Those interested in being a reader for the Friday Salutations services, Holy Week services, or young people interested in being a Sunday Epistle reader, please contact the church office to Fr. Teodor.

GREAT LENT/EASTER FLOWER DONATIONS: For each Friday night Salutations to the Theotokos service, and throughout Great Lent and Holy week, our parish icons are decorated with flowers. If you would like to make a donation towards the Icon flowers, please make a check out to Saints Constantine and Helen Church and put “Flowers” in the memo line.

MDSC CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS: Camper registrations are open for the Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp in Rose City. Our parish will sponsor $100 for each St. Cons child who is registered for the Metropolis Detroit Summer Camp program to assist with registration fees. Please talk to Fr. Teodor or the church office to get your scholarship if your child has registered for camp. For more information about summer camp, www.gomdsc.org

ST. CONS YOUNG ADULT LEAGUE: We will be starting a YAL group (Young Adult League) at Saints Constantine and Helen! YAL serves the Orthodox Christian college student, young professional and young adult communities, ages 18 – 35. Participants may be single or married. YAL provides a variety of Fellowship and Service activities, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for those who want to get more involved with our Orthodox faith. GOLF OUTING: SAVE THE DATE! Sts. Constantine & Helen Men's Club will be holding their 12th Annual Golf Outing on September 7th at Fellows Creek Golf Course. Details to follow in future messages.

AHEPA SCHOLARSHIPS: The AHEPA District 10 Educational Foundation offers financial support to qualified students pursuing academic disciplines at an accredited College or University. They give both merit-based and needs-based scholarships. Students may apply to both if they fulfill the eligibility requirements. Deadline to apply is April 1^st. MEMORIAL SERVICES: Please call the church office to schedule all memorials and coffee hour sponsorships at least two weeks in advance. On the day of the service, please bring a list of family names you would like Father to remember in prayer. Coffee Hour sponsorship is not required, however the church is grateful to those who wish to make a sponsorship donation of $200, and the HCC will set up a table with cloth and coffee, etc. for your family.
