ORTHROS: 9:00
LITURGY: 10:00
AVOID A WINTER PARKING TICKET by observing city guidelines: If the day of the week is an even number then we park on the church side of the street. If the day of the week is an odd number then we park across from the church. This Sunday is an odd number, park on the opposite side of the street from the church.
GLORY TO GOD WITH MANY THANKS The problem we had affecting both heat and water at St. George last Sunday has been fixed! We are now ready to receive everyone again today.
FORTY DAY MEMORIAL PRAYERS will be offered for Valeria, mother of Claudia S, Alex & Teo. She reposed in Romania. May God grant Valeria's memory be eternal and bring comfort and peace to her family members.
PRAYER REQUESTS Please lift up prayer for parishioners' loved ones and friends: Dimitrios, Stelios, Denise and Jaye. May God help each one to recover their health in accordance with His good will. Our sister in Christ, Victoria, will be speaking in behalf of the pre-born at the State Capitol on Monday. Let us remember her in prayer, also.
SUNDAY SCHOOL - BACK TO THE GREEK ALPHABET TODAY! After a few Sundays of holiday themed classes, we return to the Greek alphabet today. Mrs. Bucklin and her helpers are ready, hope all our students are, too!
TODAY IS SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY Let us champion the lives of the pre-born and take a stand for the lives in need of protection. Let us look to the Didache*,for the Church's teaching about abortion and infanticide: "And the second commandment of the Teaching; You shall not commit murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit pederasty, you shall not commit fornication, you shall not steal, you shall not practice magic, you shall not practice witchcraft, you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is born."

UN-DECORATORS UNITE Help to undecorate the church and hall would be appreciated after services today. Thank you.
WE HAVE A MINISTRY FOR A PARISHIONER who doesn't mind computer work and is attentive to detail. Someone is needed to update and maintain the parish contact list information (names / addresses / phone / email). If you are interested in providiing this valued assistance, please let Lee or Donna know.
PLEASE HELP ST. GEORGE RAISE A BIT OF EXTRA INCOME by turning in bottles and cans for redemption at Damon's Beverage and Redemption Center at 700 Hogan Road in Bangor. Last year St. George received just shy of $400 for the year by this redemption method--every little bit helps. Thank you!
HELP FOR OUR NEIGHBORHOOD FOOD PANTRY The Bangor Area Homeless Shelter (263 Main Street) has reached out to us asking for staple foods for their food pantry which has run low on provisions. Please add some staple items to your shopping cart weekly for the homeless shelter. Leave your donation in the church office. Jack & Areti have graciously offered to drop off the donations regularly. Protein foods are welcome and especially gluten free items as many people suffer with digestive problems. Canned Vienna sausages and SPAM are both GF and good, easy to use, sources of protein. Please check out this link to learn more about the shelter's needs and how you can help meet them. This is our neighborhood and these are our neighbors: https://www.bangorareashelter.org/support-us/donate-to-the-bangor-area-shelter/
GOD NOTICES The upkeep of our church shows love for God and the beauty of His house. When we walk in and see a well kept area, it adds to the reverence we feel for our spiritual home and the welcome it affords those who enter. Each week after services, vacuuming of the nave and narthex needs to be done. Would volunteers step up and do the vacuuming on Sunday when it's obvious it's not already been done? It does not need to be the same person every week and can be done before leaving for home. This ministry is much appreciated. Most know that the church does not have a janitor and relies on the goodwill of parishioners to keep things looking nice. Thank you to all who will participate.
SPECIAL THANKS to our young adults who often tidy up our sacred space. We're always grateful for your ministry!

Eighth Tone.
Prokeimenon. Eighth Tone. Psalm 75.11,1.
Make your vows to the Lord our God and perform them.
Verse: God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Colossians 3:4-11.
Brethren, when Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. In these you once walked, when you lived in them. But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.

12th Sunday of Luke
The Reading is from Luke 17:12-19
At that time, as Jesus entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices and said: "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." When he saw them he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus's feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then said Jesus: "Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" And he said to him: "Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well."
The divine Maximus, who was from Constantinople, sprang from an illustrious family. He was a lover of wisdom and an eminent theologian. At first, he was the chief private secretary of the Emperor Heraclius and his grandson Constans. When the Monothelite heresy became predominant in the royal court, out of hatred for this error the Saint departed for the Monastery at Chrysopolis (Scutari), of which he later became the abbot. When Constans tried to constrain him either to accept the Monothelite teaching, or to stop speaking and writing against it - neither of which the Saint accepted to do - his tongue was uprooted and his right hand was cut off, and he was sent into exile where he reposed in 662. At the time only he and his few disciples were Orthodox in the East (See also August 13).
