House Blessings Sign Up Sheet
House/Business Blessings: Please sign the sheet located in the Narthex to have your house (or business) blessed during the month of January. Father Catalin will be traveling most evenings and weekends in January to ensure that each home is visited and blessed.
Blessing of the Cars - Sunday, January 13th
This Sunday, January 13th we will have the blessing of all the cars on the parking lot!
Philoptochos News
The Philoptochos Society of the Transfiguration Church of Florence, South Carolina invites the entire community to the 2019 Annual Vasilopita Luncheon on Sunday, January 20th immediately following the Divine Liturgy in the Hellenic Center
- $10 Adults/$5 Children (no charge ages 5 and under)
- Traditional cutting of Vasilopita & Vasilopita Auction
- Menu: Pastitsio, Salad, Bread, Dessert & Tea
The Vasilopita Luncheon is a fundraiser. Proceeds to benefit St. Basil Academy.
St. Basil Academy is the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese home for children in need. The academy provides a loving Christian environment where resident children are nurtured to adulthood. St. Basil Academy is currently housing 29 children as well as several mothers of the children.
Annual Philoptochos Retreat - March 15-17
Annual Philoptochos Retreat, March 15-17. On the weekend of His Name Day, His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios will be present for our Annual Philoptochos Retreat and on Sunday, March 17, will celebrate the Feast of St. Alexios, the Man of God at Panagia Chapel. Those interested in attending please let Sabrina know.
Meeting on Sunday - January 27th
There will be a meeting on Sunday, January 27th (after Divine Liturgy) with all group organizers to work on the Church calendar.
HVAC Fundraiser Drive
As many of you know, the Church is in need of a new Heating & Air-conditioning Unit. We are trying to raise enough funds to replace our present system. According to bids $25,000 is needed. Please remit your donation and indicate HVAC fund on the evelope provided in the Narthex and bring or mail to the Church.

Please make sure the Church office has your current/updated information such as home address, emails and phone (cell/home) numbers. Please send updated phone numbers and email addresses to the Church secretary. We need to keep our records current.

Reminder: "The Sacrament of The Holy Communion in The Orthodox Church is offered to Orthodox Christians only who have been baptized and/or chrismated (confirmed) in Our Church who are prepared with Confession, fasting, prayers and have the blessing of their spiritual father to receive it. Other Christians may approach the Holy Chalice only to receive a blessing from the priest. They can also come forth at the end of The Divine Liturgy to receive "antidoron" the Holy Bread that the priest if giving. Thank you very much for your understanding!"
