Newburyport Adult and Continuing Education Thank you, Ileana Micu for hosting a Romanian evening. Ileana was our guest Chef in our second of four International Cooking Classes offered through Newburyport Adult and Community Education (NACE) in Nicholson Hall. Ileana and her family and friends showed us a little piece of Romania Thursday May 9th. There was a display of Romanian treasures, music and friends dressed in traditional Romanian costume and jewelry in addition to the food.
Ileana demonstrated how to prepare 3 wonderful courses including a homemade chicken broth with dumplings made with cream of wheat, a creamy chicken stew over polenta and a no bake cookie. We were greeted with a traditional Romanian liquor made from plums served in a tiny handled cup made in Romania and ended the evening seated “picnic style” enjoying our meal with a glass of wine. Thank you to Ileana and her friends and family for an enjoyable and instructive evening.
We have 2 more weeks of classes with guest Chefs, Siroun Roubian-Braun is preparing Armenian dishes May 16th. Melinda Patrick will finish the course on May 23rd with Greek food of course. The fee allocated by NACE to the organizer goes directly to our Church. Thank you everyone.
Please consider enjoying and coordinating this fun community outreach. To talk about coordinating a 2019 Autumn course through NACEhttps://newburyportadulted.org/ please see Andrea Jones.
Note from Fr. Costin: Siroun's Armenian night was another outstanding success. Many thanks to Siroun and kudos to Andrea for devising a wonderful way to enhance our presence in Newburyport.
