LENTEN VESPERS TONIGHT AT ST. SPYRIDON'S PARISH: As is the case every year during Great Lent, we will be celebrating Lenten Vespers on Sunday evenings at 6pm at various area Orthodox Churches. The next one will take place TONIGHT March 31st at 6pm at St. Spyridon's Parish, 390 Thames Street, Newport, Rhode Island. The preacher will be Fr. Marcos Girgis. Priests and parishioners from the member churches of the Association of Rhode Island Orthodox Clergy will be participating. A reception will follow in their Community Center. ADULT CLASS SEMINAR: The last class in this series will take place tomorrow, Monday April 1st, on the following subject: "Highlights on the Journey of the Greek Mind. How the Greek Mind interpreted the World, the phenomenon of Man and his relation to the powers beyond. Mythos and Logos." The class will be presented on Zoom from 7pm to 8:30pm. PARISHIONER ROBERT ROGLER SINGS WITH THE RI CIVIC CHORALE & ORCHESTRA: Our parishioner, composer Robert Rogler, will be participating in performances with the first-class choir, the RI Civic Chorale & Orchestra. Please be aware of these significant performances and support our beloved parishioner. The performances will take place next weekend as follows:
- Saturday April 6th at 7pm -- Cathedral of Sts. Peter & Paul in Providence, Rhode Island
- Sunday April 7th at 3pm -- First Baptist Church in Worcester, Massachusetts
BOSTON PARADE APRIL 7, 2024: Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church is going to be participating as a church in the Boston Parade. Our parishioners, including Greek School and Sunday School students, will march together in the Boston Greek Independence Day Parade. The parade is scheduled to take place on Sunday April 7, 2024 beginning at 1pm. Please plan on attending and joining together for this very special event so that our parish will project a good showing of who we are as the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. BUS RIDE TO PARADE -- RESERVATION DEADLINE WEDNESDAY APRIL 3rd: Annunciation Church in Cranston has a bus going to the Boston Parade on Sunday April 7th. They have kindly offered to stop by our church to pick up Assumption parishioners who would like to join them on the bus ride to Boston. Deadline to make a reservation for the bus ride is Wednesday April 3rd. Details are as follows: Bus will depart from Pawtucket at 11am. Children - Free / Adults - Voluntary Offering. Lunch and snacks will be provided on the bus. Bus will return to Pawtucket at 4pm. Bus Reservations MUST be made through Anthony George by EMAIL: ageorge711@yahoo.com or by PHONE: 401-580-0112. RESERVATION DEADLINE is Wednesday April 3rd.
PHILOPTOCHOS EASTER BREAD: Philoptochos will be baking their delicious Easter Bread again this year. Deadline Date to place your order is April 19th. The price will be $15 per loaf. Baking dates will be on April 24th and 25th. Pick-up dates will be on Saturday April 27th from 10am to 1pm and after church on Palm Sunday April 28th. REV. FR. EVANGELOS GEORGIADIS SCHOLARSHIP 2024: When our former parish priest Rev. Fr. Evangelos Georgiadis passed away in May 2019, his family decided to form a scholarship fund in his memory to be awarded to a graduating high school senior who is part of our Assumption Church family. If you would like to be considered for the 2024 Rev. Fr. Evangelos Georgiadis Scholarship in the amount of $1000, please note that MAY 2ND IS THE DEADLINE to send all requirements to the Attention of Fr. 2024 NATIONAL AHEPA DAY BRUNCH: Our Pawtucket Ahepa Chapter 121 will be hosting a free Brunch on National Ahepa Day -- Sunday May 19th after Divine Liturgy in the Assumption Community Center. Donations to support Ahepa's work would be greatly appreciated. See attached flyer for more information.
