PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS
Our ladies of Philoptochos have baked Fanouropita for you to enjoy. St. Fanourios is the patron saint of things lost. We will have baskets in the Fellowship Hall to benefit the Metropolis youth; the dancers, the oratorical festivals, the St. Stephen summer camp, winter youth rally, OCF, GOYA and YAL.
Congratulations to Lelia Tagiris! She is our chapter’s AGAPE award winner! She is the co-chair of the Bereavement Committee, the Shut-In Committee and a vital member of our Philoptochos. She is always working-whether it is a pot of soup, baking, visiting the sick or supporting a ministry in our church. She is a treasure! Our next meeting is on Sunday, September 23rd after the Divine Liturgy.
SAVE THE DATES FOR FESTIVAL PASTRY BAKING!
As we prepare for the festival, we will be baking all day on the following dates
(Please bring an apron and a hat):
Kourambiethes – August 28th 9:00 am
If we have enough volunteers on the first day of Kourambiethes, we may not need the second day! Please come help! No experience needed!
There are a lot of tasks involved, and we can find a spot for everyone!
GREEK FESTIVAL REGISTRATION
OPA! We are now ACTIVELY RECRUITING volunteers for the festival! We need over 700 shifts to be filled. This means that we need everyone to take at least TWO shifts. This year, we have changed the shift schedules to be more in line with feedback we’ve received in the past. Shift times are now 3 hours and each booth has the same shifts. We hope this will make scheduling for you and your family easier. It will enable you to have some downtime if you need it before or after your shift. HOWEVER! We need your help to take at least TWO shifts. Those of you signing up for THREE or more shifts will get a free sandwich voucher as a thank you (to be picked up during your 3rd shift.) As we get closer to the festival, we all start getting antsy that we will not have enough volunteers. PLEASE help us avoid panic and get signed up.
You can sign up in a few ways:
1. Log in to https://timecounts.org/greek-festival-raleigh
a. Set up your account
b. Log in and click the OPPORTUNITIES tab then click VOLUNTEER and pick your shifts
2. Find us in the church hall on Sunday and fill out a form. We will sign you up!!
3. Email us at dori.riley@gmail.com or Stacey.armistead@duke.edu
and we can get you set up
4. Call! Dori Riley – 919-244-4577
THANK YOU for all of your support for our parish family! We CANNOT do this without your help!
