Gregory the Wonderworker & Bishop of Neo-Caesarea
Saint Gregory was born in Neocaesarea of Pontus to parents who were not Christians. He studied in Athens, in Alexandria, in Beirut, and finally for five years in Caesarea of Palestine under Origen, by whom he was also instructed in the Faith of Christ. Then, in the year 240, he became bishop of his own city, wherein he found only seventeen Christians. By the time the Saint reposed about the year 265, there were only seventeen unbelievers left there. Virtually the whole duration of his episcopacy was a time of continual, marvellous wonders worked by him. Because of this, he received the surname "Wonderworker"; even the enemies of the truth called him a second Moses (see Saint Basil the Great's On the Holy Spirit, ch. 29).

These new resources also include step-by-step checklists designed to help parishioners and communities follow the new guidelines.
The implementation and enforcement of the Policies for the Safety of Children and Youth take another step forward towards the goal of ensuring that every ministry and event is physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe and healthy for the children of all Greek Orthodox Churches in America.

NEW YORK – The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America has designated October 6, 2019 as Orthodox Christian Fellowship’s College Student Sunday.
His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America will arrive in the Bahamas on October 13 for a pastoral visit to areas recently affected by Hurricane Dorian. Leading a delegation from the Archdiocese, His Eminence is scheduled to celebrate a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at the parish of the Annunciation of the Mother of God in Nassau.
On October 3, 2019, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America was joyously welcomed by Saint Basil Academy’s administrators, children and staff. The Archbishop began with a Trisagion service at the gravesite of Archbishop Michael of blessed memory.
NEW YORK – Representatives of Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Christian churches met today at the Armenian Cathedral of St. Vartan for the first meeting of the joint commission in nearly a decade. The meeting began with a common prayer service followed by open discussions.

NEW YORK – His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America completed an historic three-day visit to The Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. On Monday morning (Oct. 14, 2019) he met with the Governor General, the Most Honorable Sir Cornelius Alvin Smith.
NEW YORK – The New York Board of Rabbis (NYBR) welcomed Archbishop Elpidophoros and honored him at their post-sukkah reception, on October 23, 2019. The sukkot – a week-long festival that takes place five days after Yom Kippur – celebrates God’s protection of the Israelites as they fled bondage in Egypt.
The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese will celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Elpidophoros, patron saint of Archbishop Elpidophoros, on this, his first year as Archbishop of America.
