Sunday Memorials, Artoclasias and Other Blessings:
Please inform the church office well in advance of Sunday mornings for all memorials, artoclasias, 40 day blessings and other blessings so as not to disrupt the Divine Liturgy. If any requests or lists of names are received after the Great Entrance they will have to wait until the following Sunday.
****Additionally, in order to preserve the sanctity of the Divine Liturgy, please wait for a Parish Council member to usher you at the correct time to light candles in the St. Nectarios Chapel.
Making of Palm Crosses:
Palm Sunday is coming fast! On Sunday, April 14th our Sunday School children will be taught how to make palm crosses using real palms. Additional palm cross making sessions are scheduled for Thursday, April 18th from 4:30-7:00 and again on April 20th, Saturday of Lazarus, immediately following the Divine Liturgy. Parishioners, parents and children are encouraged to join us in the lower hall to assist in this project. We need to make 1,500 palm crosses and need as many hands as possible, so please plan to join us!
Spring Greek Festival:
Our Festival is scheduled for May 3, 4 and 5. The event Co-Chairmen are: Nickitas Alexiades and Dr. George Scordilis. This is our major annual fundraising event and we ask for help from all our Parishioners. A great deal of hard work and dedication is put into preparing the many Greek foods made right here in our church by our committed parishioners. We ask you to please support our Parish by donating your time and talents to this important fundraiser. Look for the sign-up table during “coffee hour”.
50/50 Raffle Tickets:
St. George is selling 50/50 raffle tickets and the drawing will take place at 6:00pm on Sunday May 5, 2019 at the annual Greek Festival. Tickets are $20.00 each and can be obtained by contacting the Church office or any of our Parish Council members. All proceeds to benefit the General Fund of St. George.
We ask that you please sell or purchase raffle tickets as It is an excellent way for everyone to support our Church.
Lenten Dinner and Lecture Series:
This Wednesday, April 10th, immediately following the service of Pre-sanctified Liturgy, there will be a Lenten meal hosted by the Choir & the Daughters of Penelope, followed by a summary lecture from Fr. Peter. Also to be discussed is the formation of a Church Guild. Fr. Peter invites all members of the church who would like to assist in the Narthex of the church and during all services, to attend and learn more about this new group.
Coffee Hour During Lent:
In keeping with the traditions of the fasting period of Great Lent our “Hospitality Hour” will be free of meat and dairy products. If you are donating items please make sure all pastries are Lenten and are not made with milk, butter, eggs, etc. Acceptable items are bagels, jellies, Halva, OREOS, fruits, juices and powdered cream. No peanut butter or nuts will be allowed due to peanut allergies. Thank you for your cooperation and support in this matter.
Ask Fr. Peter:
We invite all parishioners to submit questions to Fr. Peter regarding the Orthodox faith and services of the church. Fr. Peter will select one question each week and take a few minutes to answer it. Questions can be emailed to: pastor@stgeorgeclifton.org.

St. George Stewardship 2019:
Goal – $220,000 Pledged – $112,642 Received – $72,231
Pledges – 137 Archdiocese Average – $1,200 St. George Average – $834
A well-known fact by now is that our Parish relies primarily on its stewardship donations to pay its operating expenses. As our expenses continue to increase every year, that puts a growing pressure on our community to fundraise continually. Our operating expenses for 2019 are budgeted at $632,000. For 2019 our Stewardship goal is to have 400 stewards which would make the average Stewardship pledge $1580 to meet our operating expenses. We only ask that everyone make a commitment that is within their means. Our budget is based on the belief that everyone will fulfill their promise of Stewardship. So please don’t forget to submit your 2019 Stewardship Pledge card. We know all of this is a big commitment and we sincerely thank you for making God’s work one of your priorities. Thank you to all of our Stewards who have made their pledges and donations so far for 2019. Our Saint George parish depends upon your generous donations to envision our goals and enhance our ministries and outreach. Pledge cards can be found in the Narthex, Atrium or Church office.
