George of Hozeva
Saint George lived about the beginning of the ninth century in Palestine, in a certain monastery called Hozeva, which lies in a great ravine between Jerusalem and Jericho.
We meet for divine worship every Sunday morning and on holy days starting with Orthros (Matins) at 8:30, Divine Liturgy at 9:30-11 AM. Check our Parish Calendar for more information.

We are pleased to inform you that we have received the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros to administer the Affirmation of Office to our 2023 Parish Council.
We are grateful to the selected parishioners who have offered to be servant leaders of our community: Marina Blackton, Constantine Dalson, Leontios Diamantas, Evangelos Exarchos, Alexander Falbo, Apostolos Fisfis, Panagiotis Giannoumis, Panagiotis Kyriakou, James Papacostas, Demetrios Papakirk, Russell Penning, and Anthony Vlahos.
A note of gratitude to outgoing members Christine Ferello and Mary O’Hara for their service and leadership.
In addition, we appreciate the excellent work of Diane Saphos and the Elections Committee.
Annunciation Ministrty Leaders,
At the conclusion of the divine liturgy, Fr. John will be blessing and sharing this special bread in honor of our Universal Church, as well as our local Annunciation Church and Her ministry leaders, as we are remembering the inspiring life of St. Basil the Great, who offered his life to God and the needs of the poor.
You will be called to the solea to receive a piece of the vasilopita on behalf of the church ministry you are leading. If you are unavailable, please ask someone from your ministry to attend and receive the piece of vasilopita for your ministry.
Following the example of St. Basil, we will be charged on this day to receive our blessed piece of bread and then find a way to multiply it in the lives of those in need throughout the year! This is our holy challenge as Annunciation Church ministry leaders, so let's come together on Sunday and worship, celebrate, and pledge to act upon the great blessings we've been given in 2022!
We look forward to seeing you and yours this Sunday, January 8.
Beloved Parishioners,
We wish you and your families a blessed and healthy New Year!
As part of our efforts to improve our Parish and encourage everyone to continue their journey to a Christ-centered life, we are pleased to announce that Annunciation is participating in the Effective Parish Assessment Program, sponsored by the Archdiocese and created by Orthodox Ministry Services. Click here for details.
The Assessment Program is a data-driven assessment of how we perform in 6 key areas that drive the effectiveness of a Parish:
The program consists of an online survey that we will use to develop and implement an action plan. Please look for an email in your inbox with a link to the survey where you will rate the Parish on multiple measures using a 5-point scale. The survey will be open January 8-27, and your responses are completely anonymous.
Once the survey is complete and the data analyzed, Parish Council will work with Orthodox Ministry Services to develop action plans. We expect to present the findings and plans to the community in April-May.
The Assessment Program gives us an objective framework to assess and improve our Parish. It is essential to get the broadest possible input from across the community so that the conclusions accurately represent the state of our Parish. We encourage you to make the time to take the survey once the link is sent to you. If you would like to discuss the survey or the Assessment program in more detail, feel free to reach out to either of us.
Thank you for your time and thoughtfulness in assessing our Parish life and helping to make it a better place for everyone to live a full, Orthodox Christian Life.
Respectfully,
Father John L. Johns,
Dean Dalson, PC President

Prokeimenon. First Mode. Psalm 32.22,1.
Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us.
Verse: Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 4:7-13.
BRETHREN, grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it is said, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." (in saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
First Mode.
Sunday after Epiphany
The Reading is from Matthew 4:12-17
At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Saint George lived about the beginning of the ninth century in Palestine, in a certain monastery called Hozeva, which lies in a great ravine between Jerusalem and Jericho.
Saint Domnica was from Carthage. During the reign of the Emperor Theodosius the Great, she came with four other virgins to Constantinople, where she was baptized by Nectarius, the Patriarch of Constantinople. She remained in Constantinople and became known for her extreme asceticism, the miracles that she worked, and the grace of prophecy that adorned her. She lived until the days of the Emperors Leo and Zeno, reposing in peace about the year 474.
