Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church
Fifth Sunday of Matthew
July 12, 2020
AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION AND LOVE
As a precaution the Church will remain closed for an additional week as we wait for Fr Paul to come out of quarantine. A Liturgy will not be held this Sunday.
We are grateful that Father Paul continues to remain asymptomatic through your holy prayers. We are also inspired by the love and prayers of our neighboring communities in Wilmington and Durham reminding us we are connected, and we are one. As always, please keep Father Paul and our beloved parish family in your prayers.
FROM OUR PARISH COUNCIL PRESIDENT
On behalf of the Parish Council, I would like to thank everyone for the continued support that our community has provided to each other during the last few months, and more importantly, the last few weeks. The procedure that was outlined by His Eminence, Metropolitan Alexios, and completed by Fr Paul and the Parish Council was executed perfectly. Unfortunately, as a Community, we had one COVID positive test result. While it was a COVID positive, it was asymptomatic. Fr. Paul said his test result has the potential to be a blessing in that, he gets antibodies without the side-effect of the symptoms. We should all look at Fr Paul’s comments and outlook as an inspiration. I look forward to seeing all of you in Church.
VISUAL RECORD OF OUR PARISH
Everyone probably has a photo or document from the life of our parish tucked away somewhere in their home, attic or computer. We would like to assemble a collection of images and articles going to back to the 1930’s of our parish’s history up to the most recent time frame.
Chris Pappas has a collection of printed and digital images from the 1990’s to present and we have the 75th church anniversary historicalphotos from a few years ago stored somewhere. Please email Chris at chris@polyconcpm.com in the next couple of weeks if you would like to be part of a HTGOC Historical Team to collect images and news articles and documents to be organized into a visual record of our Parish from day one. The collection would be then published in some form for posterity and added to in the future.
JULY 12TH STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Thank you for your tremendous generosity in recent months, especially given the incredible challenges most families have faced on a daily basis during his time of great uncertainty. We are grateful for your loyalty and selflessness during this unprecedented journey.
Please continue using our online giving site (https://abundant.co/holytrinityraleigh/give), or you can also mail your stewardship donation and/or pledges to 5000 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC 27612, as we transition through the re-opening process. We understand this online method of giving is new for many members, so we have created a short video showing you step-by-step how to use the online giving portal. The video instructions are located right under the GIVE Online button on the main page of Holy Trinity’s website. Click on the Online Giving Instructions button, to be directed to a link and password (GeVCfkN5 – case sensitive), to watch the video. Please also remember that you can conveniently continue to embrace and incorporate our Orthodox holy traditions, by lighting a candle via the church’s main website (http://www.holytrinityraleigh.org/online-giving/light-a-candle), during this slow transition to our “new normal.”
If you have any questions about donating or stewardship, please contact Angela Georgallis, Stewardship Co-Chair, directly at 919-339-3169 or acgeorgallis@gmail.com.
Again, we thank you for your generous and constant support. Stay healthy and safe!
