Children’s Change for Change this Sunday
Happy New Year!! Would like to start the year off with some wonderful news - the Children’s Change for Change program collected a bit over $1,740.00 for the year!! All that was asked of each family was for 1 quarter on the first Sunday of every month and your response was overwhelming. For those that are not aware these funds are used to help a brother Orthodox priest with expenses visiting their child who is in long term care. The family has already lost one child and has to travel in order to see this child. You are making a loving and compassionate difference in this family's life.
Thank you and may God continue to bless your ministry abundantly!
in Christ - Deacon Gavrilo - St John the Merciful Outreach Ministry.
At the conclusion of Divine Liturgy, we will be collecting a quarter from each parishioner in support of Orthodox mission work both in our immediate community and around the globe. We are seeking two youth members to hold the baskets each month. To volunteer or for questions, please contact Zoe Pusic at 646-591-5132 or zpusic@yahoo.com. Thank you for your spare change and your generosity in supporting this effort.

Can You Assist our Holy Patriarchate?
Friends and Stewards of Holy Trinity in Raleigh,
Last year our Holy Archdiocese asked each of the nine Metropolises to make a financial commitment to the Patriarch Bartholomew Endowment Fund in the amount of $100,000 to be paid over ten years.
Nick Moraitakis and I decided not to ask the Parish Councils for contributions but rather to go directly to individuals within our Parishes who have the means to contribute. Last year we engaged three of our Parishes.......Macon, Birmingham and Mobile. In November and December of 2021, we received almost $12,000 from 13 individual donors. So, we exceeded our yearly goal of $10,000.
This year we're asking Savannah, Charleston, and Raleigh to participate. If you have the means to possibly donate, please reach out to Father Paul.
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Yours In Christ,
Spyros Dermatos

Eighth Orthros Gospel
The Reading is from John 20:11-18
At that time, Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus has lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him." Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?" Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, "Rabboni," which means Teacher. Jesus said to her, "Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God." Mary Magdalene went and said to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and she told them that He had said these things to her.
First Mode.
Prokeimenon. First Mode. Psalm 32.22,1.
Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us.
Verse: Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 4:7-13.
BRETHREN, grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it is said, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." (in saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Sunday after Epiphany
The Reading is from Matthew 4:12-17
At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Saint George lived about the beginning of the ninth century in Palestine, in a certain monastery called Hozeva, which lies in a great ravine between Jerusalem and Jericho.
Saint Domnica was from Carthage. During the reign of the Emperor Theodosius the Great, she came with four other virgins to Constantinople, where she was baptized by Nectarius, the Patriarch of Constantinople. She remained in Constantinople and became known for her extreme asceticism, the miracles that she worked, and the grace of prophecy that adorned her. She lived until the days of the Emperors Leo and Zeno, reposing in peace about the year 474.
Saint Polyeuctus, a soldier in rank, contested during the reign of Valerian, in the year 255. He was from Melitene, a city in Armenia.
