Please give specific names, living or deceased, that you would like Father to remember in prayer. Father will light candles one hour before each service. This holy Martyr was from the parts of Cappadocia, and lived a blameless life with his wife. During the reign of Julian the Apostate, this blessed one was filled with divine zeal and, with other Christians, destroyed the pagan temple dedicated to Fortune. Because of this he received the crown of martyrdom by beheading in the year 362.

The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Philippians 4:4-9.
BRETHREN, rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.

Palm Sunday
The Reading is from John 12:1-18
Six days before Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazaros was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; Martha served, and Lazaros was one of those at table with him. Mary took a pound of costly ointment of pure nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was to betray him), said "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" This he said, not that he cared for the poor but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box he used to take what was put into it. Jesus said, "Let her alone, let her keep it for the day of my burial. The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me."
When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came, not only on account of Jesus but also to see Lazaros, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests planned to put Lazaros also to death, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.
The next day a great crowd who had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" And Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it; as it is written, "Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!" His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that this had been written of him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazaros out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign.

῎Εγνω οὖν ὄχλος πολὺς ἐκ τῶν ᾿Ιουδαίων ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἐστι, καὶ ἦλθον οὐ διὰ τὸν ᾿Ιησοῦν μόνον, ἀλλ᾽ ἵνα καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον ἴδωσιν ὃν ἤγειρεν ἐκ νεκρῶν. ἐβουλεύσαντο δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς ἵνα καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον ἀποκτείνωσιν, ὅτι πολλοὶ δι᾽ αὐτὸν ὑπῆγον τῶν ᾿Ιουδαίων καὶ ἐπίστευον εἰς τὸν ᾿Ιησοῦν.
Τῇ ἐπαύριον ὄχλος πολὺς ὁ ἐλθὼν εἰς τὴν ἑορτήν, ἀκούσαντες ὅτι ἔρχεται ᾿Ιησοῦς εἰς ῾Ιεροσόλυμα, ἔλαβον τὰ βαΐα τῶν φοινίκων καὶ ἐξῆλθον εἰς ὑπάντησιν αὐτῷ, καὶ ἔκραζον· ὡσαννά, εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου, ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ ᾿Ισραήλ. εὑρὼν δὲ ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς ὀνάριον ἐκάθισεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτό, καθώς ἐστι γεγραμμένον· μὴ φοβοῦ, θύγατερ Σιών· ἰδοὺ ὁ βασιλεύς σου ἔρχεται καθήμενος ἐπὶ πῶλον ὄνου.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:
PALM SUNDAY LUNCH: There are still some tickets available for sale at the door for our Palm Sunday lunch immediately following today’s Divine Liturgy. The menu includes Seafood Stuffed Filet of Fish, Fried Calamari, Shrimp and Rice, Roasted Potatoes, Eggplant “Parmesan”, Pasta with Marinara Sauce, Salad, French Fries, Sherbet. Tickets are $27 for adults, and $15 for children. Children 4 and under are free. There will be open seating, limit 150 seats will be sold.
HOLY FRIDAY YOUTH RETREAT: From the Mystical Supper to Christ’s final moments on the cross and burial in the tomb, our youth will spend April 14th, Holy Friday afternoon from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm in learning, reflection, and prayer. Craft activities and snacks are included. Please contact the church office or sign up on the sheet posted outside the library entrance to let us know your young people’s availability to participate in this special Holy Friday Retreat. ANASTASI SUPPER: After the midnight Anastasi service, and the Divine Liturgy service, there will be a late-night (early morning) Anastasi Supper. Break the fast and of course, break a red egg or two with our parish family - Magiritsa soup and lamb will be served. Donations are appreciated, but not required for the supper.
WE ARE IN NEED OF PARISHIONER VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WORK THIS EVENT. THERE WILL BE NO HCC STAFF PRESENT. IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE CONTACT THE CHURCH OFFICE.
EGG HUNT: After the beautiful Easter Sunday Agape service at 11:00 am, we will have our annual Easter Egg Hunt in the HCC! There will be lots of activities for the kids, treats, eggs… and of course the Easter Bunny will be there to pose for photos! Coffee and donuts for the grown-ups. Bring your young ones to church to receive the light and stay for the fun!
GOYA AFTERNOON WITH GOD: On Saturday, April 29th our GOYA will have an “Afternoon with God” at the Stamatakos home in Canton. Young people grades 5 – 12 are invited to join in Greek Orthodox Jeopardy, completing the Blankets for Seniors service project, Questions for Fr. Teodor, and food, fellowship and fun! PHILOPTOCHOS GENERAL MEETING: There will be a General Meeting of the St. Helen Philoptochos following church service on April 30th. Please plan to attend.
EUCHRE TOURNAMENT: Our Men’s Club is planning its annual Euchre Tournament on Saturday, April 22nd. Cost is $45/per person, which includes cash prizes, keg beer, wine, pizza, hot dogs, slider, snacks and a contribution toward Feed the Needy and other church-related programs. NEWS AND NOTICES
NAMES FOR GOOD FRIDAY MEMORIAL SERVICE: There will be a short Memorial service following the 3:30 pm Good Friday Apokathelosis service. There are sheets available in this bulletin and at the Pangari for names of the deceased that you would like remembered in prayer. We will not be taking any online submission of names.
CHILDREN’S LAMBATHES: Our Mom’s Group is selling Children’s lambathes after church today and can be purchased after Holy week services or through the church office as long as they last! Lambathes are $20.
MYRROPHORES: We are looking for girls to volunteer (K – 6th grade) to act as the myrrh bearers (“myrrophores”) for the Good Friday 6:30 pm Epitaphio service. Girls should wear an all-white dress and shoes. We would like all the girls in this age group to participate. If your young girl would like to participate, send an email to the church office at stcons2@gmail.com, and we’ll send further instructions.
MDSC SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: Our parish will sponsor $100 for each St. Cons child who is registered for the Metropolis Detroit Summer Camp program to assist with registration fees. Please talk to Fr. Teodor or the church office to get your scholarship if your child has registered for camp.
MEMORIAL SERVICES: Please call the church office to schedule all memorials and coffee hour sponsorships at least two weeks in advance. On the day of the service, please bring a list of family names you would like Father to remember in prayer. Coffee Hour sponsorship is not required, however the church is grateful to those who wish to make a sponsorship donation of $150, and the HCC will set up a table with cloth and coffee, etc. for your family.
WE’RE HIRING! WE NEED YOUR HELP! As we move into the very busy spring and summer months, our Hellenic Cultural Center needs more staff! The HCC is hiring servers, dishwashers, and kitchen prep workers now. If you are interested, or if you know somebody who would like to apply for work, please contact Kathy McMullen at helleniccc@gmail.com or 734.525.3550. These would be good jobs for people looking for some extra income, but not a full-time commitment; for college students and older teens during the summer months; or anybody who wants to join a great team and work hard for the benefit of our parish.

Consult your estate planner or contact the Church office for information. We are grateful to our parishioners who have left bequests to the church. Their loving legacy made a big difference!
