"Our Mission Statement"
As Giving To Us By Our Lord and Savior
Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me."
Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothed You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?" And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me".
Matthew 25: 34-40

The Great Martyr Euphemia the All-praised
Commemorated July 11
Your lamb Euphemiacalls out to You, O Jesus, in a loud voice: “I love You, my Bridegroom, and in seeking You I endure suffering. In baptism I was crucified so that I might reign in You, and I died so that I might live with You. Accept me as a pure sacrifice, for I have offered myself in love.” Through her prayers save our souls, since You are merciful!
Troparion, Chanted in Tone 4
“As You were voluntarily raised...” You completed your struggle well, all-praised Euphemia; even after death, you pour out healing on us for our sanctification. We stand beside your venerable relics to honor your holy falling asleep, that in faith we may be delivered from the weaknesses of our nature and to obtain the grace of your miracles.
Kontakion, Chanted in Tone 4
Beloved In The Lord,
The Great Martyr Euphemia was the daughter of Christian parents, Philophronos and Theodosia; her father was a senator of Byzantium the Court. Euphemia was born in Chalcedon across the Bosporus from the city of Byzantium. From a child she dedicated her life to Christ.
Priscus, the governor of Chalcedon, commanded that all citizens of Chalcedon must take part in a pagan festival, dedicated to Ares, by offering a sacrifice. The governor threatened serious punishment for anyone who failed to participate. During the festival, Saint Euphemia was found with other Christians in a house, worshiping God, in disobedience of the governor's order. They were tortured for 19 days, and then handed over to the Emperor.
During the nineteen days of torture they were subjected to various suffering, but none of them vacillated in their faith in Christ. The governor then sent them to be tried by the Emperor Diocletian; Priscus did not send Euphemia to Diocletian, but held her back hoping that she would not remain faithful to Christ if she were alone. Priscus urged the young saint to renounce Christ, promising her all the riches of his territory, but after realizing that he failed he gave the order to torture her relentlessly.
She was affixed to a wheel with sharp knives and was spun violently. As Euphemia prayed to God fervently, the wheel suddenly stopped and would not move even with all the strength of the many executioners. The Lord sent an angel to remove Euphemia from the wheel and healed her wounds.
The Holy Martyr was thensentenced to death by being thrown into the arena to be eaten by wild beasts. She was thrown into the arena, but none of the beasts attacked her. Finally, a female bear gave her a small cut on her leg, and immediately the Holy Martyr Euphemia reposed in the Lord in 304.
A grand church was built over the grave of Euphemia at which the Fourth Ecumenical Council took place in the year 451. At that Council the Holy Martyr miraculously confirmed the Orthodox declaration in a miraculous way, upon her Holy Relics the Monophysite Heresy of the Oriental Church was exposed.
May the Holy Martyr protect us.
In His Love,
Father Michael
