ALTAR BOYS AND MYROPHORES NEEDED AT DIAKONIA RETREAT CENTER
His Eminence would like to have a strong contingent of Altar Boys and Handmaiden / Myrophores (as we all have for Holy Friday) for the historic event of welcoming the Miraculous Icon of Panagia Vimatarissa to the Panagia Chapel at the Diakonia Retreat Center in South Carolina. We are reaching out to all the parishes of the Metropolis so that we can reach the goal of having 100 Handmaiden / Myrophores 7 years of age and up, and 100 Altar Boys as His Eminence envisions. Altar Boys should be dressed in dark slacks, white shirts and a dark tie. They are also asked to bring Sticharia (Robes) and Oraria (Belts) with them from our church. We will be using the older gold ones. Handmaidens/Myrophores should be dressed in White Dress, White hosiery/pantyhose and White Shoes. During the procession they will be holding a Blue or White Ribbon which will be attached to the Holy Icon. Ribbons will be provided to them. They need to be at the Diakonia Center on Saturday, September 29 by 10:30 a.m. so that there is plenty of time to explain the procession to them and where they will go. Please contact Rob Shand at 919-781-4548 or htraleighoffice@gmail.com if you would like to participate.
THE ARRIVAL OF THE MIRACULOUS ICON OF THE PANAGIA VIMATARISSA
Sept 29th at 11:00 am
Diakonia Retreat Center
455 Quail Ridge Road, Salem, SC 29676
Beginning at 11:00 AM, this rare and joyous occasion will take the form of a procession with the icon of the Theotokos into our new Panagia Chapel, led by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, along with the Monks of Vatopaidi, the clergy of the Metropolis of Atlanta, and a parade group created especially for the event! Together, we will all have the opportunity to venerate the miraculous icon of Our Lady, offer glory to our God and Creator, thanking those who made this day possible, and enjoying the fellowship of our Metropolis of Atlanta family.
SUPPORT A MISSION PRIEST
The Orthodox Christian Mission Charities was able to raise $279.60 for our pledge toward supporting priests who are on missions over seas. This puts us just under half way to our goal of $600 for the year!
